Hello Makeup and wow your hol sounds fab! I have fancied a canal boat holiday for ages, good to hear it was fun. I like the idea of compulsory slow pace. How was it for space, did you feel a bit cramped up? I have hesitated about it because I'd probably go with friends and worry about us all feeling the lack of space.

The space thing wasn't too bad although the boat is designed for 6 people which I think would be very tight - I think you could only really go for 6 if some of the 6 were kids!

The 'lounge' area was small so we had to sit in a line with two of us on armchairs and the third in the 'dining area'.

    But was fine really.

I think if you were going with friends I'd deliberately underoccupy - you know 4 of you in a 6 berth.

If you were going for a weekend wouldn't matter so much I suppose though...also depends a lot if you are going to eat on board or not. I know a lot of people tend to go to the pub in the evening and eat their rather than cooking on board and staying in.

Also need to be careful with lots of luggage, we left suitcases / bags in the car but storage wasn't too bad. I had two large drawers plus a bit of hanging space and there was a cupboard in the bathroom for my washbag.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

    OMG - they are!!! Do I or don't I????????????

Wow they are lovely. The only hesitation is that I don't really do 'cheap' shoes.

I find they can be uncomfortable to wear with the low quality materials (I have to confess to being a shoe snob...was pretty devastated when Nine West went under....strictly sales of course! )

However I love the design, really unusual. Would you wear that colour? Does it work with your wardrobe?

  • Shoe Gal - get the shoes! their gorgous! Also, you can strut around in them pretending to be Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, cause thats what they reminded me of.

    Hello everyone!
I hid for a few days as I felt like a bad MSE'r, but I'm back now.
My month off from being MSE had gone compleatly t**s up as I have managed to spend £100 on adult swimming lessons and a swim suit, so I'm back to my usual state of being totally skint for the last 2 weeks of the month. And I get to spend tonight being half naked in front of total strangers and in a state of terror as am scared of water. On the bright side, in 9 weeks I will be able to swim, fingers crossed!

....should clarify, by water I dont mean showers and baths, I do wash, honest! But if its large enough to drown in, you wont find me anywhere near it.

    Hey CaroleM

I'm thinking of taking swimming lessons, I can swim but I swim like an old lady - I keep my head out of the water and never put my face in. I know it is better to swim properly but I can never get it to work and always end up inhaling the water and choking....not a good look!

I've started going swimming semi-regularly and would be good to do it properly!

I've been very efficient and have done an inventory of everthing in my cupboards - I've found a ton of coffee and I hardly drink the stuff!?:confused: I do like an espresso and I think it's from my 'i'm sophisticated' phase when I bought a coffee maker and espresso cup set. Problem is, it's a mini coffee maker and is too small to fit on the cooker :o

I've soaked some beans so I'm off to make a nice bean soup for the next few days lunch and I'm also going to try my hand at hobnobs.

Dan is on hols at the moment so I'm going to have to do my matched betting on my own - wish me luck!!!!!!

I am supposed to be 1. weightwatching and 2. catching up on work so natch am on the sofa, eating toast with lots of butter and reading shoe posts...no NSD for me today, collected my bicycle (Bluebell) from bike hospital £75 repair and service bill  But now she's repaired I can stop using the underground :T I love my bicycle!

Makeup, thanks for the canal boat tips, it sounds fab, must add to my things to do list...continuing with watery theme, swimming lessons! I salute all swimmers and swimming learners, I can't swim at all. Perhaps lessons should also go on the to do list.

    xx

:hello: Hello, glad you had a good holiday.

I'm still here till Thursday night, then away for 11 days. Let me know if I can help with anything. I haven't been here much recently as have been busy with various things, but should be around more for the next few days.

  • Makeup, could you go to improvers lessons? they have those as well as beginners lessons where I am. It went quite well in the end, and the instructor was lovely, so I will defo be going back next week. Good luck with the matched betting....and the hobnobs.....mmmmmmm....hobnobs!

Also, am now addicted to looking at the boots on the Duo Boots website, I wish they wernt so expensive tho! Am desperately trying to work out if they can be sqeezed into the budget, but I really dont think they can....
