Best quality dry cat food?

Title says it all really :)

I have two cats, one is 3 in July and the other is 3 in October. The older one is short haired and has filled out well this last year. The younger one is long haired and really skinny under all her hair - she feels really light to pick up in comparison. I don't know why as she eats enough (I presume??) but I'm wondering if there's a better food for them both.

Presently we are feeding them Joe & Jill's dry food - I stopped feeding them Felix pouches after being told they were bad for them? I also stopped feeding them Whiskas dry food after hearing the same. SO yes they presently eat a 1kg bag a week of Joe & Jill's between them, plus I feed them chicken & tuna when I make it :o Is there a better dry food out there? I've just been looking at petsathome & there are so many to choose from & I've no idea what's best?

Thanks

Joe & Jill's is a really good brand, it's made (As i'm sure you know) by the Vet Joe Inglis. I've spoken to him about it also & it's good stuff. Other good ones are Arden Grange which MrsTine feeds, James Wellbeloved, Royal Canin & Burn's. Our local pet shop don't recommend RC as they've read or heard it has links to Cancer, but I don't worry too much about that as Cancer is so common that it's probably unlikely to be the food, plus they do recommend Nutro Choice (For the Dogs) which has some terrible reviews due to health problems said to be caused by it!

I think something like JWB or Burns or AG would do fine. Wet is good to feed too but more expensive, Jack & Jill's is great but I don't know costwise about it. Don't feed too much Tuna though! (MY Cat says can she come to live with you, today is her birthday & I haven't given her Chicken or Tuna!)

My two seem happy on Hills, although one of them is also a skinny little thing, and they're brothers from the same litter! I despair of him ever filling out  The vet isn't worried though.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Oh I just can't help but feed them meat...the little one always sits so sweetly beside me when I'm eating with her little paw on my leg...argh, they're just too sweet to refuse! So now if I'm cooking they get some too - god, how embarassing that I am so soft with them!!!

I'm glad Jack & Jill's is good :) I was worrying because I could get it in the supermarket that it wasn't going to be any good?! It costs just shy of £5 for 1kg which is fine by me. What wet food is good for them? I'd like to reintroduce some wet food but they're so fussy, they won't eat the pate or jellied varieties, only the ones in jelly!

All three of mine are fed on IAMS, they tried Joe and Jill but didn't much like it.

Please avoid Iams, sorry I know it's personal choice but they do horrific testing on animals, really barbaric & cruel things, so many people stopped using their food (Myself included!).

    Good wet foods include:

Burn's (Complementary, you'd feed it alongside their dry)
    Joe & Jill's
    Royal Canin
    natures:menu
    HiLife

All are fine. Joe Inglis has a website & is part of the campaign for real pet food, which is all about knowing exactly what goes into the foods our animals eat & not covering it up with things like EC permitted additives etc. He's also a Vet & feeds his own Pets on his stuff (Jill the Cat & Jack the Dog!) so it can't be too bad!

I keep meaning to buy some for Tess & Chaya but don't go to Sainsbury's, can't remember how much it is to buy online.

Great, going to pop into Petsathome on my way home tonight & have a look for the Burn's wet food - see if they like it & maybe switch over to that if they do. I think they miss wet food? Though you can never guess what they will and won't like as it changes daily - they're both mad :)

Joe & Jill's is in Tesco too :) It was on offer at half price a few weeks ago at £2 something, I picked a few bags up then & it went thru at full price, so my kitties are eating free for a few weeks thanks to double the difference :D

You might not find Burn's in shops yet, I think the wet is quite new, but it's definitely on their website! Let me know if you do though!

The Pets at Home own brand in the silver packaging has almost identical ingredients to JamesWellbeloved but is much cheaper - a 2kg bag is £9 odd and the 4kg sack is £15 odd.

The total chicken content (in the chicken flavour!) is 40%, it's wheat gluten free, has prebiotics, no added colourings flavourings or preservaives, cranberry extract etc etc. They often have it on BOGOF too so I always stock up when it's on offer.
