he totally denied anything and would not give me any details at all. took down his reg and ype of vehicle.

there are a few scrapes on the bumper of my car and im extremely unhappy!!!!!!!!!!!!

not worth an insurance job and the police wont be interested. this is the second time this has happened to me now and i dont understand how these drivers can get away with everything. makes my blood boil!

Report it to the police anyway. They may not be interested but at least they'll have his reg no. on file. Plus if you eventually do find enough damage to make an insurance claim a report to the police is essential.

Him hitting you need not bother the police. 'Failure to stop' which effectively what he's done is a criminal offence.

If he hadnt hit your car, what was the point in him saying " i didnt hit your car" before you even had a chance to say anything to him. Sounds like and idiot!

I would still report it to the police though and get a crime number. Infact if it needs painted get him to pay for it

Definitely report it to the police. Isn't it an offence to not provide your details after an accident?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

yeah it is an offence to withhold insurance details. i know the last time it happened, all the police said was well theres no damage to your car, so nothing to get involved for.

the thing is im dreading going to pick up my son later because if hes there and says anything, then i wont be holding back.

think i will report it though.

Go to the police and they will check the insurance details on the car,
this happened to me and they gave me the persons insurance details to phone up my insurance with and make a claim against.

Its better to get your car repaired so there wong be lasting damage.

Maybe if you do decide to take his reg to the police, they'll find out he's not insured, or has other offences hanging over him. Your reporting him might just be the thing that makes them go look for him and give him the trouble that he deserves.
If he has made you this angry, surely you should do all you can rather than just give up...

There is a good chance that when you go to the police they will not be interested in this matter as they are often not interested in Accidents unless there is an injury

This is not a 'fail to stop' offence. The driver of the other vehicle is however committing an offence under Section 170 of the Road Traffic Act by failing to exchange details with you.

If you report the matter to the police stating that damage has been caused to your vehicle by another vehicle and that the other driver of that vehicle has refused details, then they will be obliged to complete an Accident Report Booklet.
Be prepared to provide all of your own vehicle documentation including the V5C registration document, certificate of insurance, MOT certificate, where required, and driving licence.

The police will not record the details of an RTC purely for insurance purposes. They will deal with your case on the merits of the incident. Different police forces will deal with these situations in different ways according to their RTC policy.
