  • Reasonable or unreasonable, your assumption was wrong sadly.

If you consider it from their point of view - how can you make a payment on an amount that isn't even due for 2 more days?

Sorry to say, but seems like you have no recourse here.

But like others have said, a single "1" in a line of "0"s on your credit report won't make that much difference.
The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

I know it won't affect my score that much. It's more the principle of this. That 1 says I made a late payment, thats bad. I didn't make a late payment I made an early one. Technically in their eyes I accept that its seen a late payment. But I'm contesting that, I appealing with them to change it, because its an honest mistake. I haven't given up on this just yet.

Set up a DD to pay the minimum balance off all your active credit cards then pay the difference (between this and the amount you'd usually pay) by your usual method when the statement arrives - this way you'll never be caught out again.

Its a mistake by you and their comments are correct.

What has reading agreements got to do with this?

This seems very harsh on the OP. Bottom line is Next did not suffer from a default.

This seems like a very honest mistake.

If Next will not budge then the OP could have a notice of correction posted on her credit file explaining what happened.

Well because the agreement would have set out the OP's contractual obligation to make a payment each statement month to the minimum value at least.

And yes they did suffer from a default as the OP failed to pay their bill on that statement month as required under the contract.

Mable = yes they can and they will just confirm Next did correctly issue a default.

this is the only down side to direct bebit, you don't get to send the bank giro slip back to next, then they would know what month your payment was for.
:confused:You have to know what the problem is before you can solve it:confused:
