"If you are more than 12 hours late in taking a pill, or have missed more than one pill follow the 7 day rule:
    - take the most recent late pill and continue to take you next pills at normal times (this may mean taking 2 pills in one day) and
    - use an extra contraceptive method for the next 7 days and
    - if your present pack ends before the 7 days do, start the next pack the next day without a break."

Copied from the info leaflet in my pill box.

Can you do that? The reason i ask, is that i'm on microgynon too and would love to take one pack straight after the other but wasn't sure if it would cause any medical problems if i did it long term?

I used to do this occasionally but I thought it wasn't medically advised to do it longterm - I could be wrong though?
I would imagine that it will be one hell of a bleed when you finally do stop taking it!

I used to be on Microgynon with the annoying (well for me anyway) 7 day break, but it gave me super daily migraines after about 3 months. So I swapped to Cerezette and i dont have a break in tablets, i take them all the time and haven't had a period since 2007! I much prefer it this way and just like the OP my body tells me if i've missed a pill and my brain doesnt remember!

Am not sure if it's the same thing with Microgynon cos it was so long ago when I was on it, but when I came off Cerezette for a bit (because I ran out for a week-ish and am crap at taking tablets so forgot to get a new pack!) I had a pretty normal period; was light and lasted about 3 days max which is pretty good for not having a period in a year and a half! Freaked me out till i realised i'd forgotton my tabelts mind - i learned my lesson!!

I think you will find the main reason that you are advised against this is because if you somehow accidently got pregnant whilst on your pill you wouldn't know until you missed a period. If you never have a break, you will never know if you are missing your period & pregnant or not. It is supposed to be dangerous to take the pill whilst pregnant so if you didn't know & carried on happy as Larry there may be a risk to the baby.

Aside from that I never dared to take more than 3 months tablets in a row - as advised - as I really feel that the pill isn't particularly good for you & I would be really concerned that it might affect my body negatively for when I wanted to get pregnant again. That may or may not be true though. I'd just hate to think that missing periods because I didn't like them might mean I couldn't get pregnant later in life - call me paranoid :rotfl:

I took Microgynon for years but when I'd had my children and because of my age my doctor put me on Cezarette as it's a mini pill and apparently better if your 35+
I took it solidly for 6 months and always had a period each month as usual - however last July I didn't bleed and after a few other telltale signs I took a pregnancy test only to discover it was positive  sadly I miscarried at 9 weeks but I wouldn't rely on it again - I don't think it worked for me!

Tee hee! that's a good point Nikabella - mind you in my case I didn't miss a pill but at least as you say you've got a better chance of discovering the pregnancy early if you miss a period.
I agree though there are certain benefits I don't think the pill is very good for your body in general really - the things us women have to go through eh!
