Ladies who take Microgynon...need your input?

I have been on the pill since i was 15, (i'm now 26) and my body as you can imagine is used to this pill and it suits me, i know where i am with my periods etc. I am really good about taking my pill and have hardly ever missed one, if i ever have, as soon as i wake up in the morning i know instantly because i have a small period like pain as if it's reminding me i haven't took it!
However, after a stressful week last week, i fell asleep really early and missed my pill, i didn't realise till the next night which is really unusual for me, no signs from my body, only remembered when i went to take my pill that night.
Myself and partner had intercourse the night i missed, should i be worried or what?
I've done some reading which says you can miss one blah blah as long as you continue, but the only reason i'm worrying is because my body didn't do it's usual....
I'm probably just being over analytical, but wanted reassurance from those who maybe missed a pill and were fine
Thanks ladies

It's very dependent on how far through the packet you got - is there information on the packet telling you what to do?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I'm nearly at the end, the reading i did said near the end shouldn't be a problem. I'm just being silly i suppose, my only alarm bell being my body not reacting as normal but i guess it depends how much of the way through the pack you are etc etc like you suggested.0 -
I'm on Microgynon but never forgotten to take one, so not entirely sure but I'm sure I remember that you're only in trouble if you forget at the very start or very end of the pack. Not 100% sure though.
I also recall something about taking the 2 pills together if you'd forgotten one from the time before. Did you do that?Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

I missed a pill....it wasn't fine!! OOOOooops!!
However, it should be okay if you took it about a day late.
If you are concerned, see whether your regular period comes and if it doesn't or it is at all abnormal, get a pregnancy test.
Even if the worse should happen, and you find out that you are pregnant, finding out so soon will mean that you can have an early medical abortion (one oral and one vaginal tablet taken a day apart) which is much much less invasive than the later procedure!
Just wait and see what happens when your next period is due......'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's how British I am' Constantine-Simms. :T

Did you take a pill as soon as you realised you'd missed one?
With Microgynon, if you take your missed pill within 12 hours of when you were meant to take it, you should be fine. Obviously, doing this on a regular basis isn't helpful, but if you only do it once in a blue moon, you should be okay!0 -
Silver...thanks, i remember reading that too. And no i didn't take both pills together.
Piggles, thanks also, i will wait for my period (due next tues/wed) and see what happens. Worst case scenario isn't really worst case scenario, we have talked about having a baby and it is iminent, but there's never a 'right' time hey.0 -
Oh and 3plus1, i took it the ngiht after (i take my pill before bed) x0

I was on this for nearly 10 years. Found this info on net doctor:
With Microgynon, if you have missed ONE or TWO pills anywhere in the packet, you will still be protected against pregnancy and you don't need to use extra contraception. Take the last pill you missed as soon as you remember, then continue taking your pills as normal. If you forget to take THREE or more pills, you won't be protected against pregnancy.
The daily dose of hormones taken in the pill work mainly by tricking your body into thinking that ovulation has already happened. This prevents an egg from ripening and being released from the ovaries each month.
The hormones also increase the thickness of the natural mucus at the neck of the womb, which makes it more difficult for sperm to cross from the vagina into the womb and reach an egg. They also change the quality of the womb lining (endometrium), making it less likely that a fertilised egg can implant there.
So sounds like you'll be fine with only one missed as your body should not have ovulated anyway.0 -
