Thinking of trying to get Sky cheaper for 3 months? Do you think it's worth a try?

Used 0800 7316965 and used the options to get to TURNAROUND this is the cancellations dept.
Offered fullpack at 1/2 price for 3 months, then call back for 12 month 25% discount. The only thing to watch here is the 12 month part. They are keen to put you on a fresh 12 month contract. You are having to commit to this term to get the deal.
Saved 3 x £21 = £63
That's great! :T Did you call back straight after they gave you the 3 month discount, to get the 12 month discount? What did you say?0 -
You can only get one discount at a time. The 3 months 1/2 price ends on 26th May so I have this marked in diary to call on that day to cancel, and hopefully be offered the 25% deal or better !
You do HAVE to say you want to cancel.
You cannot ask for a deal.
The best day to call for a deal is Friday or Monday.
The cancellations team work on a Friday to Thursday, and often have no deals left by Wednesday. This is a fact not rumour.0 -
I was offered the 3 month 1/2 price deal in November which also had a £50 Argos voucher. This has come to an end so I phoned to cancel today and was offered another 3 months at half price. I followed advice given above and said I was happy with package but wanted to cancel because of the price, was then put through to another dept who offered deal straight away.0

Wish me luck, I'm gonna phone tomorrow morning. I'm pretty confident after reading all your thoughts and advice. :beer:0

I would love to try this, but when we took out Sky+ 3 years ago we had a deal where we didn't have to pay the £10 extra pm so long as we stayed at the full package. Now for anyone who has Sky+ it would be really hard to live without it and my dilemma is that if I say I want to cancel because of the price and they give me a discount, what if they then start charging me the £10 after my discounted time is up? Would really love to try it though, as paying £42 pm is ridiculous!!When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

I think anyone on the full package doesn't have to pay the £10pm extra, might be worth checking on their website for what the situation is for new customers.0 -
£10 pm for sky+ functionality is waived if you take two premium channels for all customers - always has been and is not likely to change0

Thanks PlanOPlayer and Hurdy - will check their website and maybe give them a ring, will keep you posted! When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

We also have sky+ and would find it hard to live without ... I understand where you are coming from. The £10pm function fee for sky+ ONLY applies if you drop the sports and/ or movie pack. We were offered the full pack at 1/2 price, or the sports at 1/2price or the movies at 1/2 price.
The pack we had been receiving was £36 a month and was sports 1 and3 and movies 1,3,5,7,9. Which in itself was an excellent pack. Now we are getting the full monty for £21. They could not put that pack on the half price deal.0 -
RESULT!
I called the number Scrumshie mentioned and stated I wanted to cancel. The lady asked me why and I said because we were struggling with the payments, and felt the full price was too much. She asked me if I would consider changing package. I said "maybe", I know I probably shouldn't have, first mistake really. She then transferred me to the packages depertment and the lady there asked me what we watched etc. I knew the best thing to say was that we watched ALL channels, and that if we lost some channels, we would lose others as a result. She offered me £30 for three months. I thought about it for a second then thought, "No, I'll hold out for more". I then said "No, thank you but I still think I'll cancel." She then transferred me to the cancellations department. The lady there also asked me about packages etc and I told her the price was just too much, and we were thinking of switching to Freeview or other digital alternative. She then said because we have had the full package ever since signing up(2 years + ago) I qualify for the 25% discount for a year, if I re-commit. So I of course said yes. Unfortunately our March DD instruction has already been sent, so we'll be charged full price, BUT in April it will only be like £20 to make up the difference :j So we will save around £138 over the year. I'm very pleased with this. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions etc. :beer:0
