  • I work with figures and fairly good with excel yet time and again I cant seem to budget  then beat myself up that "it should be easy Im good with figures"!

Hope the job and business take off as planned and you can fight the depression. The D word is a horrible thing to live with and can be crippling to the sufferer and family. It gets me quite often :(.

You're right, the D word has really got me this time! I had PND and then it got me again about 5 months ago and I'm back on medication, so all in all I feel like its been non-stop for 3 years! I feel like my little break off the medication gave me the opportunity to think I was OK and should be back on top of things, but no time to ACTUALLY get back on track IYSWIM! And yep, its horrid for my OH too.

    Hello :hello:
Ive stalked you from DFW things daily thread too!!

Well done on confronting your SOA, scary but relief isnt it? :rotfl:

Main place I can see for savings (as everyone else has said) is Grocery check out the meal plan threads, Mbazs £20 for 4 for a month thread, Weezls 50p a day thread and generally the moneysaving old style board.

Im just arranging my own DMP with my creditors, main thing ive asked for is for them to freeze interest as that makes such a difference like you say its frustrating to pay £150 and then be charged £120 interest.

    Anyway, good luck x x

Is it just me, or is being a DFW and successful MSE a full time job!!!

I have been spending my free time over the past few days working out which survey sites are actually worth being a part of! If I'm trying to cut my spending, do I want to earn vouchers to spend somewhere? No! So, only if I can earn cash or useful vouchers (such as grocery) am I going to take part.

I know they aren't earning me a fortune, but my accounts are totting up nicely now and every little helps!

I have also been going through the very mundane task of listing on ebay. Fingers crossed my listings sell after all the effort I've put in - it would've been so much quicker and easier to take it all to the charity shop!

Also a very valuable lesson learned - don't list DD old stuff while she's about! I've had quite a stroppy 3 year old to contend with!!!

Hi rc01 - just read your thread today - and want to say :Tfor starting this diary AND for posting your SOA AND for facing up to stuff in the middle of D!

I also had PND which keeps rearing its ugly head long after it 'should be' gone. I know how it feels for me - so if our experiences are anything like each other then I think you are doing brilliantly to even be on here & posting so honestly.

No words of wisdom from me DFW-wise - but virtual hugs ahoy!

Thanks Rupe34. I am still struggling quite a lot, and I have felt totally blown by the fact that I haven't been able to shake it off! With PND I felt like there was a reason for it, but to have to go back to medication again has hit me hard.

I allowed our finances to get out of control while ill, and having realised that it's actually giving me something to focus on this time around. Good luck with your fight with depression, if you need a supportive ear I'm here!

I am starting to feel much more positive! Being a DFW definitely takes a lot of effort!

I am splitting my time between earning extra cash, and saving money. There is so much I want to change about how we spend our money, but have to be realistic that I can't change it all over night.

I have been registered with Quidco for a few weeks now and am starting to become obsessed by it! There are still things that I HAVE to buy - there's no getting away from that, so if I can earn cashback then it makes me feel better about spending the cash! I will be saving up the money to then pay off debts in lump sums. Our house insurance is up for renewal next month and with the deals that are currently available on Quidco I'll be getting about £70 cashback! I thought that would mean the quotes would be more expensive, but the quotes I've got so far, are actually cheaper that my current policies without taking the cashback into account :p

I have auctions listed on Ebay and books listed on Amazon in my quest to de-clutter my house! Considering that I did this about 9 months ago, I am surprised at how much I have listed! I haven't bought much in that time, I think I'm just more ruthless this time.

I am very realistic about how long this DFW journey is for me and my OH - my snowball is showing March 2014! I am determined to knock as much time off that as possible - I'd love to shave 2 years off that.
