it looks like the JVC system plays divx whereas the panasonic one doesnt - this would be a big factor in my judgement!
It appears to me spec wise that the Panasonic seems to have more features like Progressive Scan ect, the only downfall is it doesnt play Divx, as long as dvd-rs play im happy. I think I may go for the Panasonic then? IF THEY HAVE THE STOCK OF COURSE!?

The BIGGEST problem with the jvc ths33r is that it DOES NOT HAVE ANY INPUTS.... which means you cannot connect your tv, your cable tv, satellite, mp3 player, laptop, etc to it.... you can only get radio and use its own dvd player..... the panasonic, although does not look as nice at least does have inputs [can't remember which ones now]..... oh yeh progressive scan is a must on dvd players..... overall i think the panasonic is better.....

I notice the Panasonic says "stocks eratic"

Is that not Richer Sounds terminology for "come in to buy this and we'll sell you something different"?

Well that is what happened for me in the past

MOH has rung in the past for stock levels and left a card number to hold the stock for one day... If you definately want to buy.
Pick the time you go... its difficult to view items in London during the lunch hour.

Can't see where the panasonic has any either.
Anyway WHY should they have inputs?
They are BOTH DVD PLAYERS !!!!

yep, they have, but they're NEVER in stock, only the ones with the brackets at either £14.99 or £19.99

they're good as rears in a surround system tho, i've got a couple
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Are they any better than a pair of plastic PC speakers?
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Eh? The Panny DMRES20 is a DVD RECORDER with built in digital receiver.

The only thing it hasn't got is a HDD.

Edit: Whoops I think we are looking at 2 different products :o
The Panasonic SCHT330 is a PLAYER

The panasonic can be used as the centre of your Home Cinema system, as it contains a dolby pro-logic decoder. You can plug you freeview / sky box into it, and it will be output in five channel surround sound, just as dvd output will.

<EDIT>Scratch that. According to this link on avforums, the internal decoder can't be used for external sources, only standard stereo will work. Fairly pointless including the input at all then really.

The JVC is a dvd player only.
