Broadband move required: help please

I currently have a 'now' wireless broadband service. There is a historic reason for this. I no longer have a BT line, and I didn't want to sign up with NTL/Virgin Media at the time even though I have Virgin Media tv and phone.
My supplier has issued notice that they are terminating service in my area form late April.
I am due to move away in the next few months, but HAVE TO have continuity of broadband until that happens as I work from home a lot.
As Ihave VM TV/phone, I've asked them about adding on bband, but been honest that I will be moving and therefore don't want to get locked into 12 month contract. Couldn't get sense from them, as they were insistent on selling me add-on bundle with 12 month contract. The other option was to add bband to my existing services WITHOUT the bundle (and therefore discount). But after pushing was told this was also a 12 month contract.
They did tell me that if I broke my contract prior to the 12 months there would be a disconnection charge, but she claimed to not be able to tell me what that charge would be. Ridiculous, but doesn't anyone know?
I'm prepared to pay over the odds to get a short term solution, but can't risk having an unknown charge e.g. 12 months (ok lets say 10 month) of my total TV/phone and BBand.

If you mostly just need to be online for web/email access rather than downloading large files, you could look at mobile broadband?
O2 have a decent PAYG USB dongle that costs ~£30 then £2 a day, £7.50 a week etc when you need to use it.
I recently got one of these to ensure I had a connection as soon as I moved to a new flat, speeds are variable but I've been able to work on it just fine, even using a VPN to access servers at work.0 -
You just need to get broadband from a provider who doesn't lock you in... there are still some - including Be which is very good - who offer 1 month rolling contracts. Here's a list of them: http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/compare/broadband/no-contract.asp
Bear in mind though Be asks for 3 months notice - or if you want to leave sooner you just have to pay a £40 disconnection fee.0 -
I thought most of the 'alternative' suppliers required a BT landline (i.e. that VM isn't required to allow them access to their carrier). ?0
