sally re childbirth : DONT DO IT!!!!!!!  LOL
    my pregnancy story:
    total weight gain = 5 stone !!!!
complications: Simfisis pubis disfunction (spelling?) resulting in me being permanently in hospital and wheelchair bound from 29 weeks onwards.
THEN at 38 weeks had 54 hours of labour only to be then told that the babys head was so big it would probably rip me in half so i had to have a c section ( if they'd said that 2 days earlier they'd have saved themselves a fortune on pethasin and gas and air! and saved me a whole lot of pain!!!!! )

My DD is beautiful and i wouldnt change her for the world BUT i am never EVER EVER!!!!!! doing it all again!!!! lol

WOW - thats a bad experience - i really hope you are ok now :D

Got to say i love my LO - but like you wouldnt do it again xx ( although i want to )

Before I sleep, I know that kids are adorable and I admire mums so much (they are incredibly brave and loving) but Sally you are SOOOOOOOO YOUNG, enjoy your youth. I had my first serious BF at 19 then changed my mind like 10 times before I met my current OH...I met him when I was 26 I am 32 now and I still feel like there are a million things to do before I have a child (maybe I am overboard).

Everyone i know turns 22-25 and has kids, so all their studies/jobs etc, are no more!!
I also know some people like you who end up having kids in their late 30's/early 40's.
In 1 way, i've spent all my life in education, so don't wanna waste it all, but in another way i wanna see if im cut out for motherhood or not!
I think when you meet someone special you should "live a little" before properly settling down with a child.

well i got married at 22 and had lydia at 23 and seeing as she will be our only one that means that by the time im early 40's lyd's will be old enough to look after herself and i can go off traveling and stuff with DH AND because we are gonna be older we should ( hopefully) be in a better financial position to be able to really do those things properly.... thats the plan anyway LOL

It should not be one extreme or the other Sally. I personally would love to have a child at 33-34 not early 40s  ? But I don't know what the future brings. YOU have a lot of time, you are so young. I would love to have had a child at 26-27 but I could not.

I think i always worry too much before somethings actually happened!!:o

Don't worry - no plans for kids anytime soon! xxx

Makes me thankful we're have a nhs, whose maternity depts are sooooo bad, but if you had been in another country you would probably not been here!

My mum had a genetic condition and was told she wouldn't have kids!! When she did they advised her to terminate me, cos i had the condition, and wouldn't survive past my teens.
A genetic doctor had an embarasing talk with me, about babies, and said whenever i get married i need to contact him, cos they're gonna guide me through pregnancy, do tests etc throughout, seeing if i've passed it to baby!!

Its 50/50 chance of passing it on, and then you decide if you wanna keep baby or not if they do have it!! Im against abortion anyway, but it still seems like alot of stress/complications, and not that straightforward!!

ME too!! i have a rare genetic disorder which among other things is supposed to make 'carrying full term' difficult... typical that i fell preggers on honeymoon and she survived LOL  Lyd's has it too but none of the symptoms of it will affect her for a good few years yet and even then it depends how strong / mild her version of it is
