Can I connect Desktop through wireless connection?

My Desktop PC (Windows XP) is connected to my Netgeard WGR614 via Ethernet. I also have a laptop (Vista) that already connects wirelessly.
I want to move my Desktop PC to a different room but my ISP cable comes in through an outside wall and is unable to be moved. My question is how can I find out if I can connect my Desktop wirelessly.
I have had a go through the usual XP wizard which says I created my network successfully but nothing happened it still says local area network disconnected, I am assuming that I have set it up correctly but my PC simply does not have wireless capabilities.
I have checked the device manager to see if anything wireless is mentioned and there isn't anything there. The only thing I can find is Built In Infared device. Would this be a similar thing?
The computer was built for me last year if that's of any help, so it's not that old.

Probably need to add a wireless card or a wireless USB dongle.0

wireless card sounds complicated like having to take the thing apart. The USB gadget sounds better. Is this just something that makes my PC wireless?TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

Done a quick search for Wireless USB Dongle so I understand it now. I can see that some are quite inexpensive which is good. What would be the recommendation for one.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

Belkin/Netgear are pretty reliable you just plug it in and it installs the drivers then connect to your wireless network0

or buy the network plugs. The one that goes through electric socket. You can't keep a good man down...0

I would recommend a USB donagle from the same manufacturer as your current broadband router for connectivity purposes.
Routers usually recomend a donagle they make and these are preferred. Most modern desktop pc's come with adequate usb slots both front and back, so you should have no problem connecting it.
Once you choose and purchase one, they are fairly simple and straightforward to install and get up and running.0 -

Just on the net to buy one for by netgear box but noticed there are a few different reference numbers for netgear dongles. Those being WG111, WN111, WPN111 , which one do I need for my WGR614 box?TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0
