Can anyone shed any light on this problem?
I have changed from BT to talktalk for my broadband.
Talktalk say they do everything to sort out the change.
BT insist I must request a mac code from them.
I now find I am paying both of them:mad:

The usual migration process ( if you want to swap ISP's, not used for LLU type broadband) is call your current ISP and request a MAC (migration authorisation code), the ISP is supposed to provide this within a certain time frame...you then have 30 days to pick another ISP, contact the new ISP give them the code and let them do the rest......if you didnt do this (in this order) then thats why you
now have problems, but only 1 ISP can be physically providing your broadband...try www.speedtest.net and run a speed test in the results
section it will tell you the ISP you are connected to0 -
Hi Printemps99,
This seems rather strange but I can shed some light on this matter. First of all two ISP cannot provide broadband on your line at the same time. If you are switching from BT to Talk Talk you should have been issued a MAC code. A Mac code will allow another service provider to supply broadband on your line with minimum down time. Once your new company activates your broadband your broadband account with BT should automatically be canceled.
I will be happy to take a look at this for you. I will send you a PM with my contact details.
Cheers
Sean

Great, the BT reps arent even told how it works.
Moving from an ADSL broadband to LLU doesnt require a MAC, TalkTalk could just take the line and broadband without it. In theory BT Retail should be informed by Wholesale or Openreach that the service has swapped. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
Hi Guys,
As its already been stated in this thred if you are taking an LLU service from TalkTalk you dont need a MAC code. This is because your line will be physically removed from BTs exchange equipment and connected to TalkTalks equimpent - known as unbundling. As part of the order TalkTalk have to inform BT Openreach that we have received an order for our service as Openrech complete the work in the exhange needed to move the line. The date for the migration is set by Openreach and as part of this migration a message is sent to the provider your service is moving from informing them to disconnect the service. Due to the way LLU is provided to you a simple tags check will show the BT rep that your line has a service provided from outside of their network - if you need any futher confirmation from TalkTalk that your service is with us I'll happily provide it to you - just ask
Cheers
