I have read this thread through from the beginning and now I know why I need this site!! I actually own or have owned, every single one of the gadgets listed on this thread - how sad is that??? the only gadgets I ever use regularly in my kitchen are a wooden spoon, a hand whisk, rolling pin and veg peeler!! Mind you I have about 6 huge bulging cupboards as I am a total sucker for kitchen gadgets - so was my Dad and my Grandad and I have lots of their c**p too, but I can't face throwing it out as when I get it out to send to charity shop or whereever its like I'm getting it new again and I use it for about three days!!!Jane

Another vote for a lattice pastry cutter. I have never used the thing! We don't go much for lattice pies in this house. I also have a pasty maker that has hardly been used. You are supposed to roll out the pastry and put it in the pasty maker, add a spoonful of filling then close the lid and hey presto, a perfect pasty. However, the pastry sticks to it, it makes them too flat and what is wrong with a circle of pastry folded up anyway?Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I love the popcorn maker, my special offer sandwich toaster and the fondue set - fantastic treat for childrens birthdays - I guess it's what works for you (highly original statement - not!!!)“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

This thread has made me laugh :rotfl:
My OH and a friend have a completely useless object competition when buying each other birthday and xmas prezzies - the cheapest most naff kitchen gadgets you can buy! So far OH has received.........an electric carrot peeler that made so much noise our toddler was frightened witless, one of those things that takes the top of eggs, a spring loaded pickle fork (don't ask) and a green bean slicer!"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
Did anyone else have a Brabantia potato chipper? You had to put the potato in it, then push the handle down so that the potato was forced through a sharp grid, coming out as chips. It was a pain to clean, and if it was a biggish potato you had to cut it in half (or quarters) or it was too hard to push the handle down! I found mine in the back of a cupboard the other day - it hadn't been used for over 20 years so it went in a charity shop bag the next day!0

My mum had one of those spring loaded pickle forks
I could actually do with one cos I love pickled gherkins and someof the jars I buy are so deep that it would be so much easier with one
Ah yes - sandwich toaster - Mr TM had one - it got binned cos it was knackered. I find if I just grill my sandwiches - I can have lots more filling in them anyway, so wouldn't buy one. I was tempted by a popcorn maker I found in a charity shop the other day, but then I make mine in a pyrex dish in the microwave, so no point. More £'s saved
We also had a spaghetti measurer but it's disappearedI'd quite like to find that as I invariably make too much spaghetti.

use a carving fork to get to those deep jars of pickles! they are perfect for that job. My useless items have been breadmaker very hit and miss bread and took so long, slow cooker meat really tough, sandwich toaster, to messy to clean, microwave omlette maker never used, deep far fryer used perhaps 4 times, very scary all that bubbling hot fat, electric knive use occassionally but frightened i might lose a finger or two, double oven, looks lovely never use grill bit to cook, now used for storing baking trays. But my very best item is my microwave rice cooker 4 quid in matalan and perfect rice every time.0
