Its all gone quiet. Assume the original poster has realised it was probably their own mistake????
Let us know more info if thats not the case.
Incidentaly, did you enjoy your holiday???0 -
Well, firstly, thanks so much for the warm welcome...!!!
I booked a holiday in the Dominican Republic (I'm not too familiar with the airports there, funnily enough) and was booked on a flight to an airport 8 hours drive away from our resort...lynnexxxo wrote:What!
Didn't the tickets say what airport you were travelling too? What about the big departure boards at the airport? I'm assuming that you assumed/were told to where going to one airport and later found out to be going to another?
What happened when you got to the 'wrong' airport? Did the travel company get you to your hotel? Do you have documentation that you were supposed to land at another airport? How far was the actual airport from your hotel?
When we got to the 'wrong' airport the travel company put us up in a local hotel and accepted full liability for the mistake. The airport was 8 hours away from our original hotel.
Sorry it's taken so long for me to reply, I thought the forum would email if anyone responded.0 -
New posters like this do my head in. They come on and give the bare minimum info, then expect us all to rally round and make personal phone etc to solve their problem whilst moaning about the "warm welcome" they got.
They then come back with their sarcastic "i don't know about airports - funnily enough" attitude, when the reality is if they had actually bothered to do something for themselves then 'funnily enough' they would have been well prepared.
Is the Dominican Republic even big enough for it to take 8hrs to get anywhere?0 -
I don't expect anyone to do anything - I have posted to see if anyone had any advice on how it would stand up in court, asking on a public forum for some legal knowledge that I don't have - isn't that what we're all trying to do here?
With the exception of a few posters you've been rude and completely dimissive so I have every right to complain about the 'warm welcome'. Read the rules...
Do you honestly check those details everytime you go on holiday? You put your trust in the holiday company - they're the one's with the extensive travel information, which is why you book through them in the first place.0 -
Who did you book through, what did you ask for, what was outcome during holiday etc
you were out up and they accepted responsibility you say.....what else did they do, when did you get to original hotel?
What happened about the return journey, when did you leave hotel, when did you fly.
How far from airport to hotel did you think you would be - why did oyu think that, brochure info incorrect etc?
Did you think it was 10 mins away, or 2 hours away or............?
What has the company offered to put it right?
More info please and we can perhaps help.0 -

You have got an attitude problem. That is why you got the response you did. You came on here with an assumption you could post the absolute minimum and then sit back and wait for a refund to land on your doormat.
Don't lecture anyone on the rules when you have 3 posts to your name.
And no, i don't use Travel agents, i get it cheaper by sorting it myself. But if i did, then i would still research my holiday. Or were you expecting someone at the airport to hold your hand and entertain you exclusively for 2 weeks?0 -

Hi,
It was booked via Teletext holidays and we were supposed to stay in Cabarete in the North of the island for a week, flying into Puerta Plata (it later emerged) which is a 20 min journey from Cabarete. We arrived at Punta Cana instead which is an 8 hour drive away from Cabarete.
The holiday company put us up in a hotel in Punta Cana from the following night for 6 nights. We had to pay locally for the first night and also for taxis to the hotel which were $90 each way, so we are owed expenses - that they said they would be paying. The return journey was from Punta Cana also.
I wrote to the company immediately on my return and they said they would respond within 28 days, it passed that time so I wrote to them and apparently it's taking longer to gather the information. I have reported them to ABTA for this reason. So far I've not been offered anything.
Thank you for any input.sturll wrote:You have got an attitude problem. That is why you got the response you did. You came on here with an assumption you could post the absolute minimum and then sit back and wait for a refund to land on your doormat.

I'M the one with the attitude problem?! How did my original post display ANY attitude?! I didn't know how much information I'd need to post - I apologise.
Does it really matter how many posts I've made? Isn't this supposed to be a friendly place regardless of post count?
Why are you being so patronising and confrontational?!0
