Me and my girlfriend are currently looking for a new property to rent in the south, we are looking to cut out the estate agent after yet another year of lies, hidden charges and yet more lies.
Ive managed to get some website addys (Letalife,Gumtree, and Vivastreet) but I was wondering if there are any more people could reccomend.
Also any links with regards to advice for trying to find a property and the legal side of things would be appreciated lots by myself and my partner.
Cheers.

Local papers can be good for lettings.0

gumtree seems to be pretty good for London and Brighton but haven't tried anywhere else. The landlord should sort legal side of things just make sure you get a proper contract and that the deposit is held in a tenants deposit scheme0

Have you thought about the Rent2buy schemes out there too?0

I've rented from Gumtree and Loot before x0

Hi
depending where you are looking, it pays to ask around,
where I live there's one woman who buys loads of houses to let, so even if you asked the postman -he knows which houses and who she is, etc.
Ask around in shops/pubs where you're looking,0 -
We will be doing the same thing at end of our current contract. We are desperate to find a private let, so we don't have to deal with a letting agent again. We will try all the websites, and put a "wanted" advert in the local paper, we will also put little cards in the local shops in the villages where we are interested in moving too. advertising ourselves as tennents! Gotta try everything!0

ilovecheese - do you have existing tenants that the EA found? when does their contract expire?
rather than get the EA to extend the contract, you can just let the tenancy run periodic and avoid paying further fees0
