Breaking old paving - best way to DIY?

I want to break up some crazy paving around a pond. It's not a massive area, maybe around 4 sq m? What's the best way of going about this, in terms of breaking the surface into manageable chunks? Hiring a tool to do it (what sort?), or getting a sledgehammer/crowbar/pickaxe? I'd have to buy that lot as the heaviest tool in my toolbox is a smallish lump-hammer!

You can hire a breaker from HSS for about £30-£35 (for a day)
    Not even wrong

There are two in this family. However, if I want the job done this century sometime then it's me who will end up doing it.

You dont really know what you need untill you start, to start with I would try a pick axe at the edges, then you might find that it has been laid in 8 inches concreate and have to get one of these....

If you can get a pick axe/ crow bar underneath it, lift a little, place a brick
under and the 'slab' breaks very much easier.

I managed to remove a large skips worth of concrete using a couple of sledgehammers, a pick-axe and a couple of friends + beer. Its quite satisfying smashing up the concrete. Just be sure to wear protective footwear. The concrete will likely only be an inch or two thick, so should break up quite easy.
