Wanting the cheepest lesson price is not the best way to look for driving lessons. It is false economy and you will probably pay more in the long run.
If the price is cheap then you need to ask a few questions why.
1 Is the car you will be driving nearly new or in good condition?
2 Is the driving instructor fully qualified? how much experience?
3 The instructor will get plenty of work from recommendations so should be charging a proper rate. If not then is the cheap price the only way he can get pupils?
4 You need an instructor that is going to make sure you are safe and in control. Driving these days ain't what it used to be!!
He needs to be upto date. Able to give help and guidance. And offer handouts and information to get you passed.
5 The Dsa recommend 40-45 hours instruction and private practice. Make sure you are ready before you go to test and make sure the first test is your last test.

The £8 per hour was great value and he was a good intructor, no corners cut,he took great delight in taking thr ex-BSM students who had paid £20 a lesson and failed.

In our local test centre, the big companies like BSM had abysmal results.

The price doesn't mean quality, for £8 he had better pass rates than BSM at £20 or so an hour and everything else, car etc was spot on.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
