Thats all I can think of at the moment but I know theres more. I'm going to start keeping a notebook of comp wins and their value so I know just how much I get from this and how much I spend on the stamps.
Wow black-saturn. Would you say the majority are online or postal wins?
I have a short list, as I've only just started entering lots.
£20 gift voucher to spend at FatFace.
I also won some chopping boards a long time ago and got £25 for a picture of my girls appearing in Take-A-Break. lol.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0 -

I only just started a few days ago but have entered more than 400. I thought I'd aim to do 50+ per day, but actually I think I might find it quite difficult to find that many every day.
At the moment it's taking up every spare moment, but I don't really mind that, I'm getting quite hooked but I like it. :T
My mum did comping years ago, (slogans normally) and I have got her back into it, she can't enter nearly as much though.0 -
It's all about the numbers guys. The more online ones you do, then the luckier you'll get. In my experience the ones you have the best chance of winning are either the local ones i.e. for nightclub, premiere or football tickets or the ones with effort involved- as most casual compers will immediately be put off.0

I do them everyday - I don't have much else to do as I am waiting to return to uni in April and am not having much luck finding a temp job since my Christmas one finished. Its great at filling the gap, I probably do 20-50 a day depending on the ones up but I only do the ones I want to win

I have to say most of my wins have been from effort competitions. I won a hotel break last year by writing a poem and I find I win most of my prizes from Facebook comps that require submitting a comment or photo of some kind. I have yet to win anything from a net entry form style comp but then again I only 'officially' started comping in January as was inspired from my wins from last year to enter comps on a more regular basis.
I always look for comps wherever I go for instance we get a local free magazine every month so try to enter those style of comps as the odds of winning are better.
I probably enter about 100 ish comps a week... depending on how much spare time I have on my hands and the style of comps they are. If they require effort then will probably enter less as will be working on those entries. I always make the effort comps my priority then do any others if I have time.
The main thing is that you enjoy doing it, that's why I do it as these comps usually provide a little outlet for my creative side which usually doesn't get much chance to appear!
Officialy comping since October 2010!2014 wins: Kindle Fire HDX and £25 Kindle Voucher0 -
I've been entering around 5 - 10 per day, work days only
, since mid December 2010, and I've won a netbook already. Given that many of the comps I've entered probably haven't closed/been drawn yet, and some have quite improbable odds (ITV ones for example, due the huge number of possible entrants) I think I'm doing alright so far. Alas my win has ensured I am now addicted!
I'm pretty picky though too, I don't enter anything I don't really want, seems a bit mean on all the MSE and other folk who might actually want the prize!
Edit: I should mention that I don't do the FB or twitter ones either, can't be bothered!
I've been having a think about what sort of odds these comps have. I'm guessing some get up towards 1 in 10s of thousands, while others are litrally one in hundreds. It would be fascinating to know a rough average for number of entrants.
I'm always an optimist though, and figure that if I keep entering, then on a long enough timeline I'm sure to win some more... You can get lucky, but you can raise the odds of being lucky too
January: Jolibook netbook.
February: Nothing
March: May fortune smile upon me! Thanks to all the Comp posters & good luck everyone :beer:0 -
Looks like the question came originally from someone who hasn't posted on MSE since 2007. Wonder if he/she carried on entering comps or gave up.0
