A few years ago I used to spend that. It certainly paid for itself. I reckon I got back around 3 x that amount. Now I simply don't have time. I do wonder also if it has got harder to win?

A good tip is to listen out for Radio competitions on your local stations. They have some great prizes to give away sometimes.

Remember that it is local to you so straight away the rest of the country are out, then others in your region listen to other stations, and then there are those who are to scared to be heard on the radio so narrowing it down a lot.

I have won thousands over the years, but on LOCAL RADIO alone I have won a 2 week trip to the maldives, £1000's of pounds, Sky+ free for a year with TV, DVD Home entertainment system, 5 days in Chicago, weekend in London, brand new bike and loads of smaller prizes. Everyone expects me to enter them now and ask why I haven't won a biggie when they've heard it on the radio, lol

Also check out local evening papers and then onto national etc.

Most of all, never give up. Yes, competitions are more popular than ever but still you have to be in it to win it.

I used to enter lots of 'net' comps but rarely won anything and ended up with lots of Spam so don't do them no more.

    Good Luck

  • Hi Folks

Many thanks for those of you that asked for information about joining our comping (ComPost) club. Information should have been sent out by now from our moderator and hopefully we should have lots more members to look forward to.

Quite a few of us in the club are very experienced compers and have had some very big wins over the years!

It won't come over night to quote meerustar; if you don't shoot the gun you'll never know if you hit the target!

Joining a good club with experienced members is a good start and then hone your talent to what you like. It is after all only a hobby!

I'm happy to give any advice but better still join the club and learn.

    Good luck

  • I've been entering online comps for a few years now, but postcard comps for 14 years - probably more. I've had some quite nice prizes - breaks away, dj mixing system.... but my very first prize was when I was 7 - I won £20 of record tokens (was a lot of money in the 70s) from our local paper. I must enter hundreds and hundreds a month - I'm also a member of Loquax - and of the urc newsgroup too - lovely bunch of people! Good Luck with all your comping!!
Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.

I enter around 50-60 online competitions a month and so far this year have won a bluetooth headset and a kids arts and craft kit. Most of the comps I enter are online.
