o2 200 - have I really got this right?
I'm completely new to this and am with orange at the moment (on virgin tariff which is pretty good).
I searched for our requirements using the link on here (https://www.onecompare.com) and came up with 02 200 which includes 200 cross network minutes (including 0845 and 0870) plus 100 texts, plus online bill viewing, minute/text rollover for 3 months and a free phone. O2 price is £30 pcm but with cashback it is free for a year and the contract is one year.
Is that really right? What's the catch and how does anyone (the retailer or o2) make any money?
Only problems I can see right now are and difficulty getting the retailer to cough up the cashback, losing my bills so I can't claim the cashback, and timing my cancellation at the end of one year so that I don't get switched onto their regular noncashback tariff but still manage to get the cash back for the last 4 months. Thanks

hi again - the retailer is https://www.buymobilephones.net - anyone have any cashback experience with them?0
-
They do claim to be around since 1997, although I've never read anything about them.0

I don't have any experience with them in regards to cash back , but you have managed to answer your own question about what's the catch
You got most of the possibilities listed there already0 -
If you go for one of these cashback deals, just make sure you keep all the bills in a file and make notes of when you need to submit the claims. Also, read the terms and conditions and stick to them like glue when claiming so as not to leave any loopholes for the retailer to wriggle out of paying.
Also, unless you want to keep your existing number, don't cancel your Orange account as Orange no longer offer the Virgin tariff. It won't cost you a penny while you're not using it and it is handy to have for the Orange Wednesdays 2-for-1 cinema tickets, as well as a fallback if you don't want to continue your contract with O2 when the 12 months is up.This space has been intentionally left blank0
