been scammed...robbed...diddled...cheated

It had to happen one day, I've been ebaying for 6 years without any bother until now - I bought an audio book, 10 cassettes - paid with a bank transfer at the sellers request (she was called Emily, how can someone called Emily be a cheat?) next time I looked she was NRUd. That was 10 days ago, I have emailled 3 times and phoned with no reply.

What chance do I stand of getting my money back if she's already been bounced - no chance I suppose?

It wasn't a lot of money but (and it's a big but) I know that I could have sold the audio book on Amazon for 10 times what I paid for it so I feel aggreived about the missing profit more than my missing money.

    Oh no AT, how dreadful.

It does look like you have lost your money especially as she's now NARU'd.

As you say you just don't expect it of an Emily :money:

Fingers crossed though that it is all just a mistake and your tapes are on their way.

Maybe seller has been temporarily NARU'ed because they haven't paid their eBay fees.
    I know nothing

there are lots of reasons why ppl can be NARU'd - i was for selling an xbox 360 which was my own AND i even had a copy of the receipt in the ad!

I honoured all my outstanding auctions whilst i was waiting to be reinstated. fingers crossed she will do the same!
  • Ive lost £650 and the sellers hasnt become NARU, reported ebay twice plus safeharbour and also bank - they did nothing said i was fully liable.... ps was hsbc transfer :(

Never, ever, ever pay by bankers draft. You're putting yourself out of the protection of Paypal and you've lost your money. Put it down to experience - people have lost thousands this way.
  • I think that if she was going to send the goods she would have done by now so I'll lick my wounds and not trust anyone again, even if they are called Emily! it was only £5.25 so it's not the end of the world but I know that I could have sold it for lots more.
  • Very sorry to read this AT. My partner (named Emily) wishes me to point out that not all Emilys are evil and conniving cheats as she says she is nice and lovely and is doing lots of nice things at this time when my foot is in plaster and has just told me to write that she does them anyway!
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!
  • That's exactly how Emilys should be!
