The best thing to do is have two email accounts, one for personal emails ie. Freinds family the other is to use for signing up for things online I just use hotmail for signing up for stuff and an email address supplied by my ISP to email friends and family.

Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!

Vikings: Spam spam spam spam... (Crescendo through next few lines...)

I've been getting bounce messages that make it look like someone has used my email address (or addresses at my domain) to send spam. So the address is real, but I haven't been sending them, so hopefully no one will report me!
I too find that I get almost no spam now as google filters brilliantly. In the spam folder there is usually about 700 items (deleted every thirty days) but I don't even have to check them anymore, it is always spot on.
I'm trying to find a solution to spam for work. We have exchange server, but not all our emails come through it at the mo, so we need something on each machine. I am trialling spamfighter, but at £17 each it isn't going to work our that cheap. Anyone get any others they would recommend that are cheaper / better?

The spammers take real email addresses like yours and put them in the FROM field of their emails to hide their identity. Occasionally they modify it with random characters before your domain name, e.g. shcstw@yourdomainname.com. That way if someone bounces the spam it doesnt go back to them.
It just goes to prove that bouncing spam is a complete waste of time.0 -

Maybe not as far as reporting is concerned, but reverse dns is a very effective method of determining spam, which most anti spam software will use.jennivallins wrote:I've been getting bounce messages that make it look like someone has used my email address (or addresses at my domain) to send spam. The only thing to worry about is getting blacklisted, or having the reputation of your domain damaged. If anyone does report you, they'll need proof, ie an email. Within the email it'll show it's from your domain, but the email headers will say otherwise (as it's sent from somewhere else)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
