Downgrading BT Boradband

He just new to MSE.

I am trying to downgrade my BT broadband, i've been with them since Jan 08 and have their option 3 package at approx £25 a month, I no longer use my PC anywhere near as much as i used to so wanted to downgrade my package, apparently if i do so, i will need to sign up to another 12 month contract, which i dont want to do, as i'm eventually going to move to Sky. Are BT within their rights to do this, I can downgrade my mobile at anytime after 6 months, why not my broadband?

Yes they can do that.

you can downgrade without a new contract but there may be a fee to do so (£40 if still in contract)

That sucks, i'm totally fed up with BT as a whole... Guess i'll have to wait until June then :-|
