what is uni like?

Options
I am 22, and have been offered a conditional acceptance into 3rd year doing tourism.
I've been in and out of college since i was 17.
I was just wondering what is uni like? Is it like college or harder?
Are the classes the same?

    2 semesters a year. Usually Sep-Jan, Jan-Mayish time.

4 modules per semester (which are like topics), some are core, which you will have to do, some you choose what you study.

Like college, my timetable means I do 12 hours in the week which is tutorial or lecture time and then I have lots of afternoons off to do anything I want, work etc.

Staffordshire Uni (Stafford campus) is rather relaxed, out of town, we get rabbits about etc. and very green so its nicer in the summer (shame we're not here at that point!) so you can go work outside etc. City campus completely different in city centre of course.

It will take a month or 2 to get into it but I enjoy it :)

I went from 6th form to uni. Because my course involves things i enjoy I find it very fun. Classes are similar, i have 17hours a week but they are spread out nicely. Its quite relaxing and iv personally not been put under much pressure because i am good at meeting deadlines. The jump from college to uni in my opinion is not hard. You will enjoy it!

    Whats 6th form?
I'm hoping the timetable is like my college one, one day in all day, 9-4:30 and 3 9-12:15 days :)

I did college before uni, expect to be surprised. You'll find that there's loads of pressure to get the work in on time (and no one to remind you that it's due), marking criteria is a lot harsher and there's not as many clues to what's expected.

Time pressure is huge too, fitting in social time with uni time is different compared to college but the time passes much quicker. Not all unis do 4 modules per semester, ours does 3 but they're very intense classes requiring lots of prep before you turn up.

You will be expected to understand and contribute to tutorials.

But it's not all bad, i feel kinda sad that i'm graduating this year, i'll miss uni.

    A module is a class, so like I have 4 modules this semester which are;

    - AI Methods
    - C# Concurrent Programming
    - AI and Physics Engines
    - Maths and Algorithmics

    So like topics/subjects

Lectures - filled up room where you listen to a powerpoint presentation, make notes etc.
Tutorials - classrooms of a few people, depends what topic, where you do class exercises etc. like school

    ----

Sixth form is college but still at school. So the school I went to from Year 7-11 I continued into Sixth Form to do my A Levels, same place.

eeek really?! Our lecturers just now talk us through everything! and tell us the answers when we are doing exams!
I just emailed in a report today, due like 3 weeks ago, and she was fine with it, cause no one else has even started it yet! omg

We have extremely strict deadlines but they warn us over and over to make sure it's not late.

2 of my classes now has 5 students in it because of people dropping out, not turning up. Extremely useful imo.

That's why having higher education in colleges brings the whole system into disrepute!
