I'm sure I've seen one for sale in Lidl's or Aldi at some time, quite a heavy metal thing.

Just had a look and www.coolchile.co.uk do one that looks similar to the one's I've seen!

Guess if you make a lot then these would be handy, I shall be hinting to the kids about getting one for mothers day! We make a fair few tortillas, kids love wraps as snacks as well!

Can anyone recommend a tortilla press, i have seem cast iron, aluminium, plastic and earthenware (although that might have been a chipatti press)

I am addicted to tortilla's but hand rolling them takes forever.

    Many Thanks

    I've been wanting one too

they have them for sale on the sites where they sell Masa Harina for making 100% corn tortillas (can't make decent tostadas with the flour ones :naughty:) & I've been thinking of ordering, but like you am not sure which to buy

I'll be watching this thread with interest :)

They look so easy and can delegate that job to DD.
I saw one in a cooks shop for £55 once, but the rest seem to appear on ebay.

the companies I've viewed on-line sell them for around £18-20, but there's probably postage too

I'll see if I can find the links again & will post them for you to have a look, I found them while looking for Masa Harina, which I can't buy locally & I'd love to get to make proper corn tortillas :)

    Hi Lauren :D

There is an older thread about tortilla presses so do have a read and see if any of that helps you?

I can either merge with that thread, or leave it on OS for a while and then move it over to I wanna for different people's responses - will you let me know which you prefer?

Funny, i have been thinking about tring to make tortillas. The guy in the gym the other day said tortillas are digested the easiest of all the bread - but I dunno how true/accurate that is.... or how healthy they are?! I tried making them from scratch once, but to no avail..... ! They were AWFUL!:D

    Thanks:)

those sites in the thread zippy linked to are the same ones that I found, so no point in me making duplicate links

I'm still trying to work out what to order, a tortilla press & some Masa Harina*? or a bulk order of ready made corn tortillas for the freezer?

you used to be able to buy 100% corn tortillas in the supermarkets, but now even the ones labelled 'corn tortillas' are mostly wheat flour :(

*don't try to make tortillas with cornmeal/polenta, it's different stuff altogether & won't work

Oh Zip, don't say that! I've been meaning to try making them for ages. Other folks seem to rave about homemade ones.

A pack of 8 tortillas is nudging 3€ here. Crazy money!
