Sell my soul to pay for my oil! could i have a leak???

Moved into my rented place last september and its the first time i've had oil central heating. It ran out just after i moved in and cost £338 for 800 litres, then 2 months later ran out again and cost £320 to fill up. Guy filling up said it would last 6 months, 2 months later its run out again. I'm now only having 3 radiators on, thermostat on boiler is on minimum and i only have it on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening. The house is partly double glazed, hopefully rest will bedone this summer. Boiler was serviced last september. Could i have a leak from my tank? rental agency is insistant i'd be able to tell if there was a leak by the smell and be able to see it. seems like an awful lot of oil to be using by just lil ole me though :-( any suggestions?

Is your house very big? It seems like a lot to me. I have used about 1000 litres since October. Just for comparison, my house is 1800 sq ft det bungalow. 14 radiators, all on, and I would have heating on for about an hour in the morning, but I could have it on for 5 or 6 hours in the evening and during the day if needed.

What about insulation in your roofspace or cavity wall insulation?
