knee injury what to do

hi all, i would be very greatfull for any advice and recomendations.i managed to get my foot caught in a hole ( lid missing from a water meter size of hole approx 6in x 5in) on the footpath and landed staight down on one knee, i have been under the doctors for 8 weeks and still not right, who and what would be the best way to go about any claim if any or should i have been a little more carefull and noticed it,any advice would be of a great help.thanks

Take pictures of the hole should be a first priority, then see a solicitor for a free half hour sessionmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
