Thanks for the heads up peeps about the new stamp jobs being added, just bagged 3 from my local area.

    BUT

It states "- make a small £5 purchase (from anywhere in the shop) and keep the receipt
    OR
    - post a letter and obtain a POP (Proof of Postage) stamp"

When it says "anywhere in the shop", what if its connected to a newsagents for example, and you buy newspapers food etc and you pay for it at the counter, or are they referring to having to buy things like envelopes, stamps, etc.

When they say send a letter, I presume that any postal method is accepted? For example, recorded, standard parcels etc

Sorry to ask what may seem simple questions, but if Gap were to make the brief more detailed rather than just a few "points", I wouldnt have to ask these things :rotfl:

I did a MS for a concession in a department store today but when I arrived I was informed by a staff member in a neighbouring department that all staff members for that concession were off work today, one on holiday and one called in sick.

I couldn't do the shop as the assignment was to purely a customer service assessment. After forking out money for the tram I thought, great - time and money wasted as I now wont get paid for this.

But then I realised it wasn't an RE assignment, I wouldn't lose points or any money - it was for a very good company who are a pleasure to work for and when I rang them - (yes, you can ring them too and speak to someone!) they were very sympathetic and told me that I would still get my full payment for the assignment as they would still be billing the client. Can you imagine RE telling you that? The amount of times they hold back payment on jobs due to some minor technicality or spelling error - I bet they still bill the client!
How lovely to come across such a great MS company! It's not all doom and gloom, some of them are actually really good. Just steer clear of RE if you want a fair deal. ;)

I'm going in for a knee operation on Thursday and had to get DH to e-mail to cancel an assignment for me. Fair dos to them he had a lovely e-mail back wishing me a speedy recovery. It makes all the difference when the MS company treats you fairly and with respect - after all this is exactly what we expect from the shops we MS!!!
  • I doubt if I will get a call from GAP, never had a call from them before so I guess thats no more jobs for me!

I hope not! I once did a job for them where the place turned out to have been closed down. When I informed them, they said they would pay me a quarter of the fee to cover my expenses... which it didn't actually as I had travelled further than I normally would, purely because it was a good fee. So I was out of pocket on that one.

For the shop purchase, I always take it as meaning just the Post Office part of the shop, so if they have packaging etc that are available in that area only, then you can buy these, but not if you have to go to a different non-PO counter to pay. To be safe, I only buy items in stand alone post offices. In little ones that are in other stores, I just buy stamps or post something.

If you do decide to make a purchase, then make sure that the total is over £5, if it is £4.99 then some people have found that they would not pay in the past.

You can send any kind of post that you like, I've used them to send items abroad, and also recorded parcels within this country and been reimbursed fine.

If you are sending an item and get a Proof of Posting, then there is no minimum spend, but should get the full reimbursement, so this is the most cost effective way to do these shops, if you don't need stamps and don't have parcels to post.
