    Hello everyone,

I posted a short while ago to ask for advice on increasing my income and reducing my mortgage.

I have had lots of suggestions on reducing my mortgage. Thank you.

Need some help now with upping my income, please.

Basically I am now signed up to a few MS sites, namely Retail Eyes and Gap buster.

I am also signed up for a few survey sites. Ciao and You Gov.

I have my first MS to do tom which I am looking forward to. It's litterally around the corner from me so worth, in my opion the £4.00 fee.

I understand that I have to register for being self employed, which I am going to do in a short while. However, what does this mean for the tax credits? As a disabled person I get child care credits and child credits? I don't think I will be earning lots with MS and even less with online surveys.

    Questions)

    1) Will anything I earn be taken off my tax credits?- I don't mind as long as I know
    2) Do the online surveys get classed as income for the purposes of being self employed?
    3) If you do 4 MS at £5.00 per go and need to earn £40.00 to withdraw the cash, then does this get counted as income, as you have not actually been able to get paid?
    4) Are there any other sites which you recommend to top up my income, or to win freebies? The freebies I actually give to my DD school so they can raise funds for the PSG/PSA

Any suggestions would be really helpful

Thank you all very much for your kind words, after my operation last Tuesday. You cheered my up no end......I am actually now 6 pounds heavier due to the steriods however feel a lot better in myself as I have focus with my mortgage and savings!

    :j

Am sure knowledgeable peeps will be along shortly to help, but don't want you to feel ignored!

    1. Not tax credit expert but you really need to check with them, possibly try their website. I am sure you can earn a small amount before it affects benefits as an incentive to work.
    2. I don't know anyone who declares on line survey income. Which doesn't mean to say it shouldn't be declared , however earnings unlikely to exceed £25 I'd have thought, more trouble than it's worth? Plus most pay in vouchers. Technically may be a payment in kind, but I think IR have more important things to worry about.
    3. Out of interest, which co does this - I've not come across them. Basically, you have 2 choices - declare all income received (in which case deduct only the expenses relevant to those jobs when calculating figs) or all income earned, in which case deduct all expenses. I do the former as that way the tax bill for this year will be slightly lower ;).
    4. There is an up your income thread which may help, or try the 1st page of this thread for other MS co's.

    Glad you are feeling better.
So has anyone started filling in their tax return yet?
No, but I do have figures worked out. Taxable profit of £93.45, £18.69 tax due, netted off against rebate for mileage on main job, so I reckon around £141.59 (approx :o) coming my way :T. Need to collate interest figs from bank account but will be done by end of month :j

I think you may be right. Thanks everyone who also posted about this. I just feel a little relieved it wasn't just me (sorry, no offense meant to anyone). I did do a large number of stamp jobs - they were my main client.

I did get a further email from them saying that they were taking people off for false reports, too many cancellations and not following the brief. These were definately not things I had done.

Ah, well. At least I managed to take hubby out for a free meal last night courtesy of RE. It was really nice.

I have been sacked from some of GAPs clients including bookies and stamp jobs as I used to do a lot. I was told that they like to rotate there shoppers.

Anyone know if they will reinstate you in the future? Worth dropping them a line in year or so? Would be gutted about bookies, I won +£80 on one bet this year

I would like to - I like to get this kind of this out of the way - but they haven't sent me a form to fill in. Should I have received it by now?

  • I don't know if this will help anyone and the more experienced may have better information but I was only accepted with the above at the end of Feb 09. I received a welcome email which invited me to call or email if I had any difficulty.
I can not remember why but I did call the person and during the conversation I found out I needed to register a voice recording as an English speaker.
I don't think I would have known to do this if I had not called them. I straight away applied for a car circuit and was assigned.
    Hope this helps someone
    ;)
Can you tell me how you did the recording as I have looked on Bare and not sure how to do it.
  • I did a car circuit early March and a phone call late March.
The phone call shows payment pending but nothing on the cars
    Is this normal?
    TIA

  • I am new to Mystery Shopping and have managed to confuse myself on Bare. When you apply and get a car circuit is it €20 per outlet visited or is it per cluster?

My casino job has passed straight to payment, no queries - phew! Mind you, most of the questions were answered 'not offered a tour', so probably limited options to query!
    Now proud Mumto3 :j
