Dp has only told one person, his Dad, and he was supportive. We haven't told anyone else though - can't be bothered to have to try to "justify" it iyswim? There are genuine reasons, but why should dp have to lay his soul bare to all and sundry so they can feel comfortable with it??

TBH, I think unless people have actually been through something themselves they will never understand. If people do find out and question it, I will (try REALLY hard to ;) ) remember that - people do seem to like talking a lot about things they know little or nothing about  .

The people on this board come from all walks of life - we are all normal people who have either had bad luck or made some bad choices (in many cases a combination of both). If it can happen to us, it could just as easily happen to all those sanctimonious so and so's who think they are so much better.........

  • Family is the only real reason why i will not tell mine when we go Br. I have sisters who will wonder how I had the nerve to do it, how I could bring shame on the family in this way and then come out with the proberbial I wondered how you managed to do that quote while, also talking about us behind our backs to all and sundry.
Oh, and then tell me that I can always go to them for support. If only to know my business and pass it on.
    Money Talks ...
but all mine ever says is Goodbye!

Spenderblender - your sister isn't called Hyacinth is she?
  • Hi folks and I hope all is well. I have been taking a break from the forum and getting on with post BR life. I was in the paper and a bloke I know said " Well done I would do the same if I had the b*ll*cks" adding "No one gives a toss about BR these days, everyones at it, fair play to you" All my pals know and I have gained a sort of celebrity status, with advice being sought from all sorts of people including my well off brother in law, who spent an hour on the blower yesterday asking me for advice on his possible BR. I of course point point them all here.
My sister thought it was a disgrace that my name was in the paper and that the paper could of used the space for real news, she will not buy the paper again.
    Regards Hoos;)

  • any mums concern should be the health and wellbeing of thier children, not wondering if they owe a bank a few quid**, jesus threw the moneylenders out of the temple didnt he?...

**especially when the bank itself has blown millions....and paid bonuses to bosses for doing it!
