I currently have a Barclaycard Gold credit card and can transfer £5000 into savings I therefore become eligible....but what if I withdrawn most of the £5000 after my account has been upgraded? Will it revert to the standard current account?

I have a Platinum account with Barclays - but I moved my savings to a higher interest account after they upgraded me. That was more than 2 years ago. I now would not qualify for Platinum banking - but hey, they have not written to me or said anything. So go on - set up your qualifying criteria and then you can do whatever you like.

This is bizarre...I have banked with Barclays for 23 years, same job for 22 years currently earn £73.5K a year. My wife has had a Barclays account for 5 years, (own account) has a part time ob as a nurse earning £13.5K per year and they upgraded her account to a Platinum account last year!!
  • What are the benefits of this account over the normal current account?

no benifits its just a prettier card ... iv had one for 7 years im 25 now and would not be elidgable (sp) any more but they dont seem to notice.

Might give you higher credit allowances on CC`s but i cancled mine as they werent competative.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
    Mortgage - £2,000

  • There are a few benefits such as a £250 interest free overdraft and free use of CHAPS payments (usually cost £20) amongst others.

I doubt you had this for 7 years, as that would mean that you had it when your were 18 years old, which would be very unlikely.

out of curioisty which debit card do you get with the platinum account, obviously I know it is a connect debit, £250 CG, but ive seen two different card designs, both silver so different from the standard connect (blue), but both designs were slightly different, one had platinum on and the other never but they both looked 'wealthier' account cards. Anyone with this card shed some light - sounds like a stupied question i know and it probably makes no difference but even so...
