Hands up! Who is obsessed with.........

I am slightly obsessed I must admit. I tell people about this and even gave out Martins Book to people at Christmas. I save all my small change, plan meals, eat less snacks, only drink water a work, and have paid off £13,000 worth of dect thanks to this site! I think that Martin should be recognised by the British Public once and for all as he is saving us collectivly a fortune! Must be millions wiped off of National Debt thanks to him! Can we vote for him to get an OBE or something?

Hey, you sound just like me!!!! :rotfl:0 -
I am absolutely obsessed and also bored at work too!
My family love the fact that I am on MSE - we are always going charity shop shopping and I love getting bagfuls of clothes for the price of full price high street stuff. I wash it all, iron it up and wear it out and no one knows any difference!
I know my friends get bored of me going on about saving money here and there but I know for a fact that a lot of them are in dire financial situations. I have shared all that I have learnt on here as I have made savings on the gym, contact lenses, mobile phone and meal planning etc but if they don't want to know then that is up to them. It is a comfort to me to know that I will be in a good position money-wise as I get older!
I love this site and always pop on everyday - I def get less done at work now than I used to! - and whenever I'm shopping or on the tube I wonder if the people around me are MSE'rs."It's not easy being me...!" :wave:0 -
Okay....I am completely and utterly obsessed with MSE and moneysaving - I love it!
My dad told me about this site a couple of years ago after he heard Martin on Radio 2 - at the time I was on dial-up and everytime I tried to have a look I just got an error message.
Now on broadband and now on this site for at least 3 hours a day!
Getting onto this site came at a perfect time for me - I bought a house with my OH last year (our first) and all the hints and tips for saving, cutting down and freebies have come in soooooo useful.
I make a point of passing on any good info or freebies to my family so they can benefit too.
My OH told his work colleague about my moneysaving the other day - it inspired his colleague to search the internet for the item he was looking for rather than popping down the shop to buy it - he saved £60 - another convert!
Only downside of all this is that now my OH gives me a list of things we need to buy and asks me to find the best possible price on the internet - it takes ages!!!
Debt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
Yes I'm totally obsessed, but it has replaced my obsessve spending thank goodness so very healthy. I spend hours on the site and have an untidy house to prove it
I love spend ages on the snowballing and egg mortgage calculators rejigging my figures, and every night reviewing my spend diary seeing where i can save a few extra pounds. 0 -
I'm on this site all the time. I'm surprised my boss hasn't splatted it on our firewall. Perhaps he knows I post on the Debt Free Wannabe board and has taken pity on me. Maybe he thinks I owe thousands (well I do, but "only" 6!)
Since finding this site I've done my SOA and I plan my meals, shop only for what I need, have a per week "entertainment" budget (which I regularly bust, but at least I'm trying hard!), have changed my 15-months-to-go personal loan for a 12 month one with a much lower rate, paid off my credit card, started seriously collecting store points (I have a free month's gym membership coming up!) and shopping around for the cheapest petrol (I can't BELIEVE I used to fill up at Texaco!)
I'm always on the lookout for bargains, but only those I need. Last month I got a fantastic Peter Storm jacket for only £17.99 (I love Peter Storm, it is excellent quality and will last me about 5 years). I was well chuffed and it's keeping me lovely and snug during this nasty weather.Debt Free Nerd #3100 -
