Richer Sounds have received stock, but their store price is £599.95 which I presume is what JL would price match with. Still not a bad deal (if they price match and deliver for free - if not, RS would honour their web price of £530 but charge £53 for a 5 year warranty and £65 for delivery making the TV £648). I'm considering stretching the budget to £800 for the new Samsung LE37B650 with a free 3-year warranty.

    Fifer,

I may be wrong (sadly, we have no John Lewis store within 60 miles :( ) but I believe that the price JL matches against Richer Sounds is the price including Richer Sounds' 5 year warranty - in other words, 110% of the store price of the television itself. Please check that; I'm not sure whether you've taken it into consideration and if it does apply I wouldn't want you to get an unwelcome surprise after doing your sums with your usual diligence.

I noticed that Richer Sounds currently has one Panasonic TH42PX80B on clearance at its Glasgow store for £550, if that's of any interest to you. Could be worth checking out?

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

That's a good price. Sadly, it's taken enough effort to talk DW up from 32" to 37". ;)

Explain to her that it's on special offer, £100 cheaper than than a 32" and buy her a present with the difference. Once she gets used to the larger size (might take her a whole hour :) ) she'll appreciate it and congratulate you for being right.

(I had to overcome similar domestic opposition in insisting upon a 52" and buying it. Once installed, she was so pleased with it she admitted she had been wrong and insisted on giving me half the price I paid for it! :D )

    No, no: that's wrong.

I used to think, misguidedly, that because the value of the £ has been devalued by over 35% as a result of the genius of our great leader, the price of imported goods would rise. Silly me.

The clever people on here set me right about that, though. Because the £ has gone down (still falling) by over 35%, televisions, computers and everything else we import will go down by 35%, not up. Innit?

Thing I can't work out, though, is why a beer now costs £5 in Europe. Got me foxed, that one.

  • Without doubt purchase TV at RicherSounds , they will beat ANY PRICE /or,give you a cash reward of at least a £5 upwards all depends on how much you spend,PLUS PAY YOUR PARKING- next I would suggest ,Samsung Lcd or Plasma, 37" or bigger ??.as a midddle budget but very good quality matching or beating more expensive brands,eg Sony, Sharp, Panny. Please let me know if you find that I am wrong ???:T

Hmm... is RS sending it's reps in here to give us the luncheon treatment?

I was in a RIcher Sounds branch last Sat.

    - An item I was interested in cos it was on the RS website at 20% off, was still marked with un-discounted price. Staff had to be challenged about it before agreeing to the lower price.

    - Not many if any Full HD sets. Discounted yes, but are all recent models available here to compare?

    - Still a much more pleasant experience than Dixons/Currys. Last time I had an issue with Richer Sounds, a faulty DVD recorder, I was given a loan machine and the repair was perfect. The loan machine made waiting a month no problem.
  • Good on you Buglawton,-->Eh , not a rep just a helpfull Forum member, as to Q above about where and what tv etc, glad you have had good expieriance at RS. Did`nt they do well , and for me too.
    5 stars to Richer Sounds
