Fifer, we bought a TH-37PX80B last year and so did my mother. Excellent televisions with a great picture. For me the SD picture on the plasmas was much better than on the euqivalent priced LCDs. We've been very happy with ours.
I've recommended them several times to people and would continue to do so.
Buglawton, we used to have a JVC CRT with a built in subwoofer and for me the sound on the Panny is good enough. Whether it is quite so 'full' I'm not sure but it is certainly acceptable and if it's not good enough you can always get a proper home cinema surround sound system. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
If you want to use the TV with a Sky Digibox, make sure your Sky remote has the code for the TV before you buy it. See more advice here:

I have just bought the Panasonic TX-37LZD80 (£638 on Amazon) , and am using it with Freeview (Humax PVR) and with a Sky box (free viewing, not HD) and the picture is really exceptional - much better than I expected ....the sound is very good too.
highly recommended
Mmmmmmm. £629.99 at Richer Sounds (plus £63 for a 5 year warranty). :think:There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

I agree with this and so does my neighbour who recently bought a Sony lcd. His picture is great, but still not as great as mine (his opinion!)
We have a Sony surround DAV260 for watching movies and certain tv programmes (oh and dvd's). The sound from the panny is not as good as the old crt but not so that you don't want to listen to it!0 -
Thanks all. Since posting this, I've also been looking at the X10 (seen posts from people price matching at JL with S&V but I think they have to be within a certain radius and no S&V don't have shops up here unfortunately - £699 is more than I wanted to pay). I'm also thinking about the 32" LG plasma. £439 from Richer Sounds with a 5 year warranty seems a bargain (£399 without the extended warranty).
You can definitely find the TXP37X10 a lot cheaper online than John Lewis' £699

£542.80 including delivery from 1staudiovisual. I think Pixmania are offering £10 off the price shown there as well, but I can't get on their website at the moment to check. It's only £6 more from Amazon if you want to buy from a more familiar name.
For the KDL37V4000, £499 from Comet isn't bad but you can have it for £429.99 including delivery from Play.com
Personally, I've had a 37LG5000 for a few months and not had any issues - not saying it's the best TV in the world, but it's good value for a 1080p 37" LCD.0 -

Just seen Richer Sounds advertising it at £549.95, so (if in stock at Edinburgh) should be able to get JL to pricematch and get their free five year warranty. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

I like JL, but I would imagine watching them knock £150 off for you would be far more satisfying than buying online ever could be

Not to mention the 5 year guarantee.
Go for it Fifer, I'm sure the TV won't disappoint. It's my problem, it's my problem
