Viral Irony: The Most Common Cause of Corruption

When encountering the symptoms of DBX corruption, many people immediately fear that their computer is infected with a virus. As surprising and ironic as it may seem though, the most common cause of DBX corruption is not a virus, but rather anti-virus programs that are configured toscan incoming or outgoing e-mail. Even the most well-known anti-virus programs have exhibited this problem from time to time. To lessen the risk of such corruption you should disable the e-mail scanning module in your anti-virus program. This is usually easy to do by looking at the user-configurable options in the anti-virus program. It is not at all necessary toscan e-mail for viruses to protect your computer."

AVG seems to have very poor detection rates compared to Avira AntiVir in every test I've seen.

    I didnt like Avast either.
AVG I didnt mind until the annoying way it wouldnt auto update but then its detection rate is REALLY poor compared to Aviras and thats what AV programs are supposed to be good at.

If you have Barclays online banking then Kaspersky is free for a year-just log in and follow the link.
If you don't, it's worth paying for it anyway.

Just to say a big thanks for the heads up on this - just installed it via my partner's Barclays account. I can already feel the pc running faster!

I ditched norton on every computer I've had. Downloaded the removal tool and all the free software, then went offline, got rid of norton and installed said free software. Never had a problem. :)
