Advice on new dishwasher, washer & dryer, please!

Really fancy new kitchen appliances, they are all about 5 years old & I fancy an update.
I have a Hotpoint dishwasher, I HATE it, I HATE it because of the cutlery basket. My friend has a Miele & it has a cutlery drawer, I want one of those.
I believe Miele have lost the patent for this now & some other makes will be including this feature, anyone know more about this? Siemens perhaps? Any others?
I think steel is the way to go now, white looks so dated, so I want a cutlery drawer & steel.

Its more expensive than I thought, its £850
Found a Siemens with the drawer, only £580

For BOSCH with cutlery drawer, £530

I would "like" my dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer to all be the same make:rolleyes: (but washing machine & dryer are next to each other so MUST match).
I want my washing machine to be hinged on the right (rather the the left which is the usual). Miele & Hotpoint Aqualtis are (AFAIK) the only two who do this. The Miele washer is £1,000:eek: I can stomach this (if I have to) but the matching dryer is £800:eek:      Now I think thats an awful lot of money for a tumble dryer:mad:
But the Hotpoint Aqualtis is only available in a white & steel mix:rolleyes:

My problem is wanting a washer that opens the unusual way, a dishwasher with a cutlery drawer & a all in steel:rolleyes:
Miele will cost about £2650 for all three.
I want nice stuff, my cooker was £1,000 & my F/F (just bought a new one) was £1500 (with the extended warranty), so I can't put cheapies in anyway.
The dishwasher & washer & dryer don't HAVE to match (but would be good if they did), but the washer & dryer MUST.
I need to make up my mind as my tumble dryer needs replacing (the door catch plastic has snapped & its repair or replace, yes I know its an easy repair:o ).

I would never buy a washer/dryer combined they are useless and take an absolute age to get the clothes anywhere near dry.0

WHICH reported that expensive tumble driers are not much more effective than cheap ones. And to be honest they all look much the same. I have a White Knight drier - cost around £100 I think - stands on top of the washing machine. It's brilliant. My expensive new Hotpoint on the other hand has an amazingly noisy spin cycle, much noisier than the ten year old Indesit it replaced.
I think the most important features for a washing machine are noise levels (and of course Miele scores highly on being quiet) and things like being able to stop and start the cycle while it is in progress and being able to see how long it has to run.
Same for dishwashers. When I bought a new Bosch dishwasher to replace my old one, I bought one which looked as much as possible like the old one. What I overlooked was the old one had a programme knob you turned to set the programme, which "unwound" as it worked through the cycle. That meant you could see from looking at the position of the knob where the dishwasher was in its cycle, and if you wanted to, add extra items. The new dishwasher has a digital programmer selector, which means once it is running you have no idea where it has reached in its cycle or how long it has to go to complete. If I bought another one now, I would make sure it had a display telling me how long it had to go.0 -

Its all about how it looks, I want quality appliance that function well, but after installing a lovely oak kitchen with black top & sleek handles I want sleek appliance too.
I think the Bosch steel dishwasher (with the cutlery drawer) for £530 is a good bet.
The wash & dryer don't HAVE to match the dishwasher (would have been nice).
I can get Bosch appliances that look good at a reasonable price though & put up with it opening the wrong way (for me)
OR I buy the Miele that will cost me £1800 for the washer & dryer
OR I buy the Aqualtis that opens the right way, but isn't completly steel (but has white too).0 -
Sorry obviously didnt read the origional thread properly. That will teach me to skim read :rolleyes:0

This dryer £450

Still looking at washers, maybe one from the Exxcel range to?
Any recommendations?

I know you said you hate hotpoint But
Have you thought of the Hotpoint FDD912 dishwasher £341, and the TCD 970 Dryer around £300 ish.
Both look the same and the dryer is very quick and the Dishwasher you dont even know its running.
We got ours from dixons and with the discount even cheaper.
Also when we restister them on hotpoints web site the extened warrenty can be cheaper that domestic and general on some of the machines.
There is six of us and if you need adivce on a fridge i have just got one of them also after seeing which one held 4x six pint milk bottles.
Hope this helps.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -

I just bought a new fridge

Its a beast, its 25% bigger than a regular American style one.
Thats what prompted me to change everything, you think they are all dated & old (the dishwasher, washer & dryer are all 5 years old & just out of warrenty too).
I've looked at the Bosch ones & decided they are for me. The three of them will cost about £1,500, over £1,000 less than Miele ones.0 -
if your concerned about how things will look, why not look for appliances that you can fit a cupboard door to?0

Because I should have done that when I put the kitchen in three years ago, but I had so much to buy that it wasn't possible to buy new appliances on top of everything else we had to do here. They were all only two years old at that time as well.
You can't add fitted appliances to an already fitted kitchen? Can you?0
