Bit early to mention involving your MP! At the moment you actually have no proof of who did the damage.

If I were the school or their insurer, I would want proof that a person I was responsible for did the damage before even considering paying out.

Also unfair to blame the culprit from a previous incident without any proof, I thought it was innocent until proven guilty.

Thanks withabix, but what is the LEA, I am no good at complaining really but I am will get in touch with my MP if I dont get the response I want from the head and I'm sure it won't be what I want to hear. I would have assumed that whoever did it is the same person who has done both windows as it is too much of a coincidence for it to be two different lads.

Don't embarrass yourself or your MP by involving him in this. Deal with the Headmaster and let him sort it out.

As you can't prove who did the damage I think it best to forget it or go through your insurer.

Why should your premiums go up if you make a claim? If you put in a claim your insurance company may take it up with the school for you.

Can't see the insurance company bothering to claim from the school for this one. It would only be a £50 claim (excess being £100).

If the headmaster WON'T deal wqith this, which apears to be the situation, then I would write to my MP. He works for us - we pay his wages.

You need to give the headteacher a little longer to deal with it. If this student has a reputation at the school, the school I am sure will be doing what they can. Schools still like to have a good reputation in the local community. If the headteacher does not respond as you wish then I would contact the police with the evidence that the headteacher found and your insurance company.

Goodluck, it is a difficult situation for you to be in.

Thanks for the help I have received so far, I think things are moving now, I emailed the LEA and got an email back from their insurance dept saying they will be looking into it and getting back to me soon.
I also got a phone call from the school to say they have checked the cctv cameras and found three pupils involved in the incident, they can't give me the names but they told me to ring the police officer who is dealing with it and give them the school number to ring so that they will be given the names of those involved, I will be doing that 9am when the the officer starts her shift.
It was the police who actually said it may be the same people who did it as it seemed to much of a coincidence, I have lived here 26 years and all that time nothing like this has happened before, so you see why it looks as if the same people involved. Yes it is inocent until proven guilty, but
it isn't the amount of the claim I am worried about, it's the fact that my premium would soar next year, and I don't see why I should be the one to loose out. Just imagine if this happens again when Iv'e claimed on my insurance, it wouldn't be fair, these things need to be dealt with, why should they get away with it, they need teaching a lesson or two!

Hi Vedder hope it gets sorted for you. It's a difficult claim as you would be paying most anyway and yes, in my experience, premiums do rocket after a claim.

Would be nice if the kids/parents took some responsibility here, might make them reluctant to do it to someone else. We had a similar situation, twice , a few years back - but the children were off school property. Cost us a fortune.

Good luck, and I think you're right to pursue it - might get the message to the parents.
