Thanks for offering to look at my log. I downloaded the latest version of HijackThis and run it. As I said on the other thread, I've never had problems with my lappies except for lots of spam email. Anyway here is the log, just in case there is something that needs addressing. Thanks for your time.

Nothing terrible there, though you may want to fix:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - !!7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Do you really need all those toolbars? You've got Google, Yahoo, MSN, Wanadoo (now Orange I think) and ImageShack.
  • For a start you appear to be running AVG 7 - I would suggest that you either download version 8 or change to Avira Anti Virus and then remove AVG 7.

    Avira available here - http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html

    AVG 8 - http://free.avg.com/download?prd=afe

    My preference would be Avira

Not really Wanadoo/Orange and ImageShack yes. the others I keep taking them off the browser. I tried to remove the Yahoo toolbar using the remove programs facility but it tells me it can't as there is something missing...

Hang on I just went into Remove Program and when it populated the list the Yahoo toolbar is not listed

Yes Browntoa, I was thiking of updating it with version 8 but I heard that it caused glitches etc so I thought I'd wait a while and let others be the guinea pigs. :o

    Is version 8 ok now?

I'd recommend Avira AntiVir instead of AVG. But that's just me.

Looks clean to me Quasar (Though id remove those that Browntoa suggested)

You seems to have quite a few toolbars running though. Id remove all that you dont use (Personally I only use the google toolbar)

I see you have sunbelt firewall. Does the net load up pages ok? When I tried it, it randomly failed!

AVG7 has a poor detection rate and no anti spyware. Upto you but id be thinking of upgrading that (Personally I use AVIRA anti virus)

Are you running the Malwarebytes scan?

    no no

Ones a dead file and the other just uses resources needlessly
