Hi Angie!! Its good that Joe is realising that walking out of class is not good - and that he can apologise for doing it. I think in some ways that deserves some praise.

Personally? I would book the trip and make it clear that it you can and will cancel it right up until an hour before he is due to go unless he can keep behaving at school. No '3 strikes and your out', just straight forward one mess up and thats it!! (ooooh aren't I harsh, you can tell that I am an evil step-mum!! lol)

How long before he is due to go? Just that if its a while and he usually gets a certain number of white slips per week, you could opt for a reduced amount each week, with the last week before he goes being the week with none. Might be a little easier on him than going 'cold turkey' (as it were) and then getting one white slip, realising he's not going and then going back to his previous behaviour (the 'well I've blown it so why do I need to behave' situation!)

All the blurb above aside, I know you will make a decision that is right for the 2 of you. I really hope Joe does well and gets to go - I think it will do you both wonders!!!

    Hi Nats,

The camp is next friday (15th).

I would like to be really harsh with Joe, he has stopped trying to leave school (trying to climb a fence to leave ) and walking out of class  He is now mainly getting slips for shouting in class - he has come so far but yet has this little bit more to go, which is really hard. Sometimes i feel like im being to harsh and then theres times where i think im not. Its getting a balance i suppose.

I did book the camp last night :o and have also spoken to Joe and explained what i think is acceptable behavour. His responce, dont worry mum, ive got enough time to turn it around

Joe over the last 2 weeks has had around 3 slips a week, ive said i will accept 1 a week plus i want 2 stars a day at least, instead of 3 stars a day.

Hopefully this will work as he had a ball last night and was already talking to another Joe about camp and where there going to sleep, ect. Ive also promised a beaver t shirt and jumper to go to camp with, IF he behaves.

    Fingers Crossed ;)

    Morning All,

I really need to put more effort into my running, went out last night and am now suffering :rotfl:

Not got into work early once this week  Even with the light mornings now. Will try harder on this next week.

Cant access my online banking either at the moment  I NEED to update my spreadsheets.

Also spent £5.97 on a top from primark, thinking that it will look nice with black jeans and heels for tomorrow :j:j Bit nervous about meeting GG now, been in constant contact all week through text, BUT he spoke to my dad in the pub last night :eek::eek: saying all this stuff about how lovely i am :o and how he wanted to take me and Joe out  My dads responce was take her out not the boy :rotfl:

Oh and apparently everyone knew we were going to get it before we went out last week.
Will have to talk to him tomorrow and explain that im only looking for fun for me, not Joe, just yet! And of course now, my dad knows all about it and where im going Friday :o

    Money sides, 06/05/09

    £5.97 on a top
    £20.00 Joes beaver camp
    £3 Beavers
    £2.60 Train Fare
£1.20 Small pasta salad for lunch
£6.55 on steak - been craving steak all week - was lush!

£39.32 - God it adds up fast.

Forgot to add earlier that i need to buy some more make up - no foundation / powder or blusher left now  Going to boots at lunchtime, problem is the foundation is around £13 on its own  Going to budget £25 for this out of me money. Hopefully i will spend less, make up does last me 3 - 4 months though so its not too bad. But im addicted to bonjouris stuff - its smells so good :D But is sooooooo expensive.

Will your new top go with any skirts or trousers you have or can you borrow from somebody else?

On the subject of Joe, I feel he needs prasie for the progress he has made and other good behaviour but needs to be reminded of what he still needs to work on.

With regards his Beaver uniform it may be worth talking to the leaders to see if they will be wearing uniforms on camp. When we go away with our cubs we very really wear uniforms particularly if we are to a lot of out door pursuit type activities. Also worth asking if they know if any body is getting rid of an old uniform that you could pick up cheaply or for free.

    Hi Baileys Babe,

Have sorted the clothes now, kinda - another £12 down, but now have a top that is a bit more dressy and i can still wear my skinny jeans.

You might be right with praising Joes behavour so far and reminders on the rest, he has made progress but i think im not helping but constantly punishing him. Its probily horrid for him, always being told of and not mentioning how proud i am for what he has managed to change.

And thanks for the heads up on the beaver uniform, will ask next Wednesday.

Ok, ive just spent another £12 on clothes, new grey top for £10 and earings and a necklace from Primark for £2. I should now be ok, im borrowing a bag from a mate, unfortunatly she is a size 6  so i cant steal her clothes, but handbags i can :D Im now going to stop panicking and try to relax as i now have 2 tops to chose from. I am still wearing jeans, i dont really own much else than them, but thinking skinny's with the top and accesories should be ok, but i am wearing my killer heels, tried to walk in them yesterday, not good :rotfl: Its just as well he is picking me up in a cab.

God i feel sick, but a good nervous sick if that makes any sense at all :o

HI Angie, HOPE YOU HAVE A BRILLIANT NIGHT OUT ! Joe is doing so well and beginning to learn what is and is not acceptable. Beavers sound like it's doing him the world of good. I think you're getting the balance right, he knows what you expect and is learning what is acceptable behaviour. I loved his "don't worry Mum have time to turn it around", very astute.
Parenting is hard, but your doing your best and that's great. Keep everything achievable for Joe, providing he puts effort in and you won't go far wrong. Loads of Love.
