I have a client who has loads of cats and he pays us £100 a month and we just keep it "on account". I have others who do this as well. I am in the enviable position of being able to take direct debits as well, and this is very useful. DD is not a cheap option for a practice but once you are over the set-up costs then you are OK. e.g. I do dental work and take a "deposit" and then the rest on monthly instalments by DD. Deposit is whatever I think I can get but is never less than £50.

Wow, I could only dream of a Vets like yours, i'd happily put by £50-£100 a month with them & if they died not expect it back but carry it over when I got a new Pet (Couldn't live without Pets)

I might ask them about it & see, but I doubt they'll do it, worth a go tho!

No they don't, i'm sorry to hear that. If anything happened to Tess (Chaya too but Tess i've had years) i'd never get over it. Fair enough if she was old & passed away i'd be heartbroken, but to have to PTS or something if the Insurance couldn't be a direct claim, well I think i'd end up going with her I would'nt cope with that :!! I don't think any do the pre existing conditions.

I know what you mean; hard isn't it? We've had him from a pup and he's 12 this year...

They bring a lot of joy but, oh boy, is it difficult when they go.

I hope everything goes ok with your 'brood'.

Well, the Cat at least has recovered well though she's bald where they shaved her neck & leg lol still on medication but she's doing great now she's allowed out! I'll be interested to see how quick Axa pay up (If they do), before she was with M&S & they took a month exactly, so we'll see, not sure when the Vets will send the claim in but we go back in the week to see the Nurse so will check it's been done, they were quick to send in the Pre-Authorisation one for the Dog.

    Hi
Hope pets doing ok , I have 3 dogs and pay the insurance , was with m&s at the last renewal it went up from £60 to £90 to £130 a month so I looked around and was told about http://www.jbionline.com/
I have them now and only pay £47 a month for all 3 dogs on a life policy with £50 excess have made one claim and it was paid in 3 weeks .
I know I could use the rspca or pdsa but both have the hospitals a distance from me in an emergency I would not get there in time , when I phoned up to ask if I could use the practise vets that is only 5 mins from me that take people on benifits who use the rspca or pdsa I was told no I had to use the hospital due to my post code , the hospitals are 45min to 1hour then 2-4 hr wait .

The vets practise I am with now brought up all the smaller vets around so you don't have a choice but they are money minded first and formost .
if I could get the name of the vets practise in Wilmslow/ Handforth who deal with the above I would reg with them

I can see the dilemma you have and I am glad they don't have a PDSA hosital in my area as I think it is better to use a local vet.

I'm glad you have got your insurance down though, and by quite a sum too! Just goes to show it pays to shop around.
