This changes the phone from the new 3g network to the old 2g network.
It works well where there is a very weak signal on 3g as the phones prefer to latch on to the new network

If the signal is craap on 2g and 3g then you are fluffed
    baldly going on...
  • Thanks, I only have auto or manual. Auto will select the best signal. Or I can fix the phone to orange 2g or 3g.

Both are pretty poor so it doesn't really make a difference.

Hiya, your best off selecting 2g in any area that has a poor signal as the 3g is less dependable. the other thing is , (please humour me and try this) one of the commonest problems when you can see, emergency calls only on a phone is there could well be a speck of dust on the sim, (this is enough to stop normal service on any phone), clean the connectors and the sim with a dry soft cloth, and try again. if this still fails, you can get a signal booster in any phone shop that attaches on to the battery directly. Hope thats of some help. AJ

  • Thanks. What is the signal booster? how much are they? Do I need to take the phone apart?
