    Thanks Bennystar,
my interviews are at the disability and employment service, not the jcplus. I'm thinking from the last two post's that I will get the same answer from my adviser at the next meeting, which is this coming tues. my medical was delayed for a number of reasons, so I'm thinking the EADS did'nt have my medical report by the first meeting.

    Hi
I attended the jobcentre in December eight weeks after my claim and the day after a biopsy with no idea what my illness was yet which i explained to the lady at the interview.I then got an invitation to a PWTW interview which fell a week after my medical. As i have mentioned they have no results at PWTW so they are working in the dark, how anyone is waived from these appointments even if your on ESA and in the support group i don't know cause there seems no communication. This is resulting in some very ill people having to attend these interviews which is clearly not right.
Explain to PW your probs and treatment if its not for you at the moment.

    HI Bennystar.

If its not too nosey a question, what office were you interviewed at?

My local EADS has moved to a location outside of town, completely off the public transport system loop..At the moment they have agreed to paying for taxis, which are ver expensive in my town. The last visit cost them 16 pounds travel expense..would'nt it be more cost effective to allow the adviser to offer help via e-mail and post..in the twenty min interviews all She does is show me leaflets about training and other help they can offer to me. Surely that sort of thing could be done by more cost effective means? I will certainly ask her that at the next interview.

    Thanks for your input.

    Hi all,

The rules have changed - from December 2008, the rules for work focused interviews have been brought broadly into line with the new rules for Employment & Support Allowance. If you are in the Pathways to Work Scheme, you do have to attend interviews as a condition of recieving your benefit.

The only exceptions are if you about to start work, or if you have severe disabilities.

    Hope this helps

    1.12 Existing customers
    106. The Government’s intention is to migrate existing incapacity benefits
customers to the new Employment and Support Allowance over time and as
resources allow. This was made clear both in the Green Paper consultation
response and in subsequent parliamentary debates on the Welfare Reform Bill24.
This is intended to help reduce complexity for customers and staff. The Secretary
of State also made clear that existing customers will not be required to undertake
work-related activity as a condition for receiving their benefit. Their rate of benefit
    will be protected.
    107. Existing customers will not be required to participate in mandatory workrelated
activity, but we will invite them in for interviews as appropriate. This will
allow for greater participation and in many cases fundamental change in attitude
around customers’ capabilities. Existing customers will also, as is already the
case, have the opportunity to volunteer for the support that we offer. As Pathways
is rolled out to cover more of the country, this offer will be available for more and
more existing customers. This in turn could provide an opportunity for increased
participation and mitigate as far as possible the fact that not everyone will be able
to migrate at once due to volume constraints. As more evidence becomes
available through the Pathways to Work programme about how we can help
people who have been on the benefit for some time, we will enhance these
    proposals with time.

    thanks richard

I'm wading thru the legal stuff, So am I correct in asuming attendance to these interviews is voluntary? In my circumstances (IS (sicness based) started claim in Aug 08. My benefit was actually stopped due to Working Links sending me an erronious ptw interview letter. It took a great deal of sorting out and resulted in an appoligy letter from EADS manager (was promised one from Working Links but that one never arrived) and the benefit was reinstated..but caused a deal of distress to me.

However, I do not want to distance myself from any assistance from the EDAS in terms of help getting back into work or any other help I may be elligable for.

My only complaint is the difficulty of getting to these interviews due to my dissability and the location of the office.

    Hi Roger

The PWTW office i attended was also on the outskirts of town near a retail shopping park, nice if you've got a car no good if your on public transport and yes it is on the third floor.I suppose its trying to keep you focused on what help is available to you cause its hard getting back into work after a layoff and at the moment you need all the help you can get.But again it needs to be a the right time or it causes more harm than good badgering people who are severly ill.I was told by the jobcentre to ring up and say I was to ill if i didn't want to go, there would be no sanctions.
Lady i saw was nice and pleasant and only doing her job she can't change the system. If you are undergoing treatment tell them at the interview and they SHOULD stop for a time but i know this doesn't always happen.

Thanks Richard, I will ring them Monday to make sure...I can't afford the hassle of having my benefits stopped again.
