We've finally moved back into our apartment! we literally had coving put up in all the rooms, every room painted and built in wardrobes put into the spare room. We also had tiling done on our bathroom and kitchen floors and walls. It looks lovely now and its pretty much finished off for us to live comfortably for the next 3 years.
When we moved back in we noticed our washing machine was leaking again (third time now) so once again we've called Electrolux who will replace it for the 4th time!!! good job! (thankfully its under warranty)
I'm looking forward to the end of the month so we can get paid, overpay the mortgage and update my signature! i can't believe its been three months since i've started this diary, crazy how time flies. This will be the first month of our new £1500 standard payment. Lets see the balance collapse.
This month we have both made over £500 from matched betting (see the gambling forum in the fun section) which we will use to over pay the mortgage. This really has been free money for us.Mortgage overpayments 2009
FEB £155,737.00 op £500
MAR £154,849.00 op £500
APR £154,018.00 op £500

Thank you SmlSave and Setmefree2. Its great to be back in the apartment, we are really enjoying it at the moment.
This weekend just gone we had our engagement parties, it was a great long weekend full of lots of champaign good food and good entertainment.
We've just booked our holiday for the summer, we are going to visit Florida where my OH's family live for a week. I can't wait, only three months away.
Now the mortgage...Our first new £1550 payment went through just over a week ago for April 2009 with our £500 overpayment. We are now paying £2050 a month which i feel is just great achievement. I hope we can keep going. Our 5 year fixed rate mortgage has exactly two years left on it (June 2011) and i hope by this point we are down to just over £100,000 from our £153,000 we are now. If we can do this then we are on course to pay the whole thing off before 2016.
I have also started matched betting which is working very well for me. There is a guy in that forum who has made over £50,000. his Diary is a sticky and i believe its worth the read. So far i have made enough for one months £500 op and we are well on our way to another £500 for the second month. I doubt i will be able to continue going at this pace, but fingers crossed.

Okay i couldn't log in under Dreamingalound so i have added a new name for Dreamingaloud (which it was meant to be in the first place). Just wanted to quickly update that i have been paying the £1550 every month with the £500 overpayment. (mainly coming from the reminder of my savings account which is earning very little interest at the moment) and my current mortgage stands at about £145,000.
Looking back over my thread, i can hardly believe i've knocked 10k off since April/May. My advice for any lurkers thinking about getting involved is this...DO IT! you have nothing to lose and everyone else will motivate you!0 -
Hi,
I thought I would say hello as i've just been reading through your diary. I feel a bit of motivation is needed for me at the minute and this is just what i need! You seem to be doing really well and the matched betting sounds as though it's working well for you. I keep meaning to give it a go but print off the first few pages of the details etc and then read so many times not to try it unless you really understand it, my OH insists that it is only a way of losing money (despite what i seem to have read and from my understanding of it!) and i just feel a bit nervous about where to start. I think i will re read the posts and maybe give it a go in the next few weeks. We're already making overpayments, I just want to make them bigger and really get the mortgage down as quickly as possible. I'll keep up to date with your posts to see how you're getting on.
Good luck with the wedding planning!Debts all paid!!!:j0 -
