Unit Trust Investing into existing Isa funds

Hi,

If I have used my existing Isa allowance in a particular stocks and shares fund eg Nationwide Tracker and wish to invest in the same fund as unit trust, does my portfolio include one fund or two? i.e. one fund under the ISA wrapper and one that is taxed or are they lumped together with only the ISA contribution non liable during tax assessment?

Quickie - can a stocks and shares ISA allowance be split between 2 (or more) funds or must it be used only into one fund?

thanks

Justin

The ISA and non ISA parts would have to be accounted for separately. I would imagine they would seperate them for you. I know Hargreaves Lansdown give you seperate "accounts" for ISA and non ISA holdings.

Yes it can be split between as many funds as you like. With firms like H-L it can be split between many different fund management companies as well, in the same tax year. Something I guess you can't do with Nationwide.

If you dont intend to use up all your ISA allowance in the tax year and have unit trusts you can "bed and ISA". This is where you transfer internally an amount from the UT fund into the ISA fund.
