Hi all

My brother-in-law has started having a problem with his computer.
I can't get to the error codes as it is rebooting automatically and then loopng in the Windows did not shut down clearly" bit.
He/I've tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known good and start windows normally.
He's getting a blue screen with an error code but it doesn't stay on long enough to make a note of it.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

It's not in the BIOS - it's in the advanced tab of startup and recovery on the control panel. Assuming its Windows XP you can follow these instructions:

Thanks for that - but I can't get it to boot anywhere to get to control panel.
If it helps, it says American Megatrends machine with XP Home (I think).

This is odd - I have the same problem - and posted a few days ago about it. There were some suggestions but nothing that seemed to work, so have taken the unit into a computer shop to get them to look at it, as there was nothing I could do to get it going again. The chap in the shop said it MAY be a hard disk problem (which I hope not as I haven't backed up in a while) and he would get back to me.
I know this is of absolutely no help to you, but what are the chances of two occurrences of this in the same week?

Thanks for that - should have known about that.
I'll try it and (hopefully) post the error codes in my next post.

    Hi guys

Pause isn't keeping the BSOD on screen.
    Any other ideas?

    Timothy

That doesn't appear to be working.
I'm on the phone to him as he's about 200 miles away.
