Hi all
My brother-in-law has started having a problem with his computer.
I can't get to the error codes as it is rebooting automatically and then loopng in the Windows did not shut down clearly" bit.
He/I've tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known good and start windows normally.
He's getting a blue screen with an error code but it doesn't stay on long enough to make a note of it.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi,
It's not in the BIOS - it's in the advanced tab of startup and recovery on the control panel. Assuming its Windows XP you can follow these instructions:

Thanks for that - but I can't get it to boot anywhere to get to control panel.
If it helps, it says American Megatrends machine with XP Home (I think).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

This is odd - I have the same problem - and posted a few days ago about it. There were some suggestions but nothing that seemed to work, so have taken the unit into a computer shop to get them to look at it, as there was nothing I could do to get it going again. The chap in the shop said it MAY be a hard disk problem (which I hope not as I haven't backed up in a while) and he would get back to me.
I know this is of absolutely no help to you, but what are the chances of two occurrences of this in the same week?Taking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for that - should have known about that.
I'll try it and (hopefully) post the error codes in my next post.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

That doesn't appear to be working.
I'm on the phone to him as he's about 200 miles away.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
