Ebay, item not arrived, please help?

Hi
I would appreciate some help if possible.

I sold a leather bag on ebay, and posted it 2nd class a week ago today (6th). I got a really good price-more than I actually paid for it in the first place!

I know the postage was correct, I have proof of posting and the parcel was secure, but the buyer has contacted me twice to say it hasn't arrived. I've asked them to wait until next week incase it is delayed.

Now, the horrible side to me is wondering if it has actually arrived, but because they think it's not worth the money (I did describe it properly-warts and all) they are are pulling a fast one.

Or has it really bee lost in the post?

What do I do next?

I have 100% feed back (610) and they're feed back is 6.

Please help.....

Thank you
:j

What postage method did you use and how much did it sell for?

Send the proof of postage recorded delivery to them to prove you sent it then leave it up to them to make the claim.

I had a similar incident and posted them to receipt then never heard from them again. Everything I now list i always state I'm not responsible for lost items so if they don't arrive the claim is with them once I have forwarded the receipt or they can pay the extra for recorded delivery:confused:
  • This above isn't right advice - the person who posted it has to make the claim through Royal Mail - so it will have to be you. I'd ask the buyer nicely to wait a while longer - it's early days - and in any case you can't make the claim yet ... if it doesn't turn up you will have to reimburse them (and I'd do that quickly) and then put in for the claim ... if you have proof of posting you will get your money back so don't worry. Recorded delivery isn't v good either as often the items aren't signed for on receipt --Ebay now is heavily weighted in favour of the buyer ...

The seller IS responsible if the buyer does not recieve the item. I think its 3 weeks until RM consider it 'lost'.

You cant prove the buyer didnt recieve the item.

After 3 weeks if they still dont have it, refund the buyer and claim your loses from RM.

    This is incorrect.

You can write what you like on your ebay page, but it won't count if it's against ebay rules. The SELLER is responsible for safe delivery of the parcel, and if it doesn't arrive, then it's the SELLER's problem.

OP, give it a few more days, then if it hasn't "arrived" then you need to put a claim in with royal mail. Was it under £36?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Hi

    Thanks for all the replies.

It was sold for £19.50 plus £2.75 postage.

So, shall I wait for another few days, refund the money and start a claim from RM in 3 weeks from the date stamp on the proof of posting?

I hope you understand that it doesn't matter what you state it is you, as te seller, who has to make the claim and not the buyer?

The buyer will ALWAYS win a paypal case unless it is trackable online.

Never send the receipt as a seller because you have lost your proof of postage so won't be able to get a refund from RM plus you are still very likely to have to refund the buyer.

Pretty wide open for lots of Paypal claims for non receipt. As others have said write what you like on your listings, it doesn't make it binding. In fact you are going against Ebay rules and the law plus it makes you look amateurish and stops bidders.

For the OP, ask the buyer to check with their local sorting office first. If you think they may be lying you could try calling their bluff and say that you have been told it was delivered and as such it may have been stolen by either the postman or en route, so you hope they co operate with a police investigation, or somethinga long those lines. Its surprising how often buyers with a missing item find that their spouse collected it and never told them!
