O2 Contract - Going over
Just after a bit of advice please.
I am currently on an 18 month contract with O2. I pay £30 a month and get 400 mins and 1000 texts. However, I keep going over and this month my bill was £46 as I went over my text allowance by at least 100 texts somehow!
My contract isn't up for renewal until July so is there any chance of negotiating a better deal to stop me going over so much? Or do I just have to wait 'til June/July time when I can upgrade and change my tariff?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You send 1100 text messages a month?
I'd suggest simply calling O2 and asking them for advice. They might be able to recommend a tariff upgrade (it's downgrades companies usually moan about) or maybe add one of their unlimited bolt-ons, e.g. SMS? I think it's £7.50 pm.

The new £35 tariff will get you 600 minutes and unlimted texts... just call them they will change it
p.s one month I sent over 3000 so it is possible!

I only really text my boyfriend, so it's ridiculous that we send that many texts considering how much we see each other!
Well, thanks for the advice. I just rang O2 retentions. The guy I spoke to said he can lower my contract to £25 p/m (200 mins 200 texts) then add the bolt on so I would be paying £32.50 max. I would pay this for 4 months, then on the 15th June he said to call retentions and as I have been with them for over 6 years they can sort out a much better deal, with the bolt on for under £30 p/m.
Phew. Much happier! Thank you.0 -
You should be able to get a retention deal MUCH lower than £30pm. I pay £15 on Orange for 200 mins and unlimted text. Just threaten to leave and tell them what offers you can get elsewhere. This is only my second contract with Orange, was with O2 for about 8 years.0
