So far we have overpaid the mortgage by

    13th March £250
    30th March £350
17th April £188.37 I just had to round it up :rotfl:
    29th April £200

    Total Overpayments £988.37

I have still stopped smoking, its been a bit tough at times but i now have a sense of smell! Not good they are fertilising with humanure round here!

OH's contract ends on the 27th May, although times are tough i cannot say i am upset, i am ready for him home in the week now, its been a tough 15 months on all of us although financially its given us a great boost but its time to put family first again! Also very pleased to have it finished as its very hard to say no to £66 an hour when its on offer especially as we are in a recession!

I am still waiting for a quote for the bathroom hope its not too high, i have budgeted £1600 for this! ALthough i don't want to push the plumber i know his father is very ioll at the minute so have said to come with it when he is ready! My bathroom needs doing but its priorities and i want him to do it. His workmanship is some of the best i have seen!

I am off to the garden centre later on this morning, i have no idea what i am doing so, this year as always i am going to buy some well established plants. In the hope of planting from seed for next year! I have alot to learn.

    Have a good day y'all x

Excellent overpayments. you are really beating me. And well done on the no smoking. you still finding it quite easy?

We think we might be about to get a large payment from tax credits though. Somewhere in the 4-5k region. Some of that will have to go off the mortgage, but if it is as good as that i have two temptations
    1) a laptop so i can do my school stuff a lot more easily
    2) a holiday abroad this summer as it has been far too long and we would really benefit and the kids would love it.
Will be keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

Other large expenditure this month will be DS1's birthday. Or should i say party. We seem to have invited rather a lot of people as BH weekends are so good for socialising. Oh well. You only live once and we would all enjoy a good party.

New bathroom - i have to say i am jealous. DH retiled part of ours early last year and we swapped the manky carpet for a lino offcut for £10. It does, but i have dreams for a shower. We'll get there eventually, but it seems daft to get a plumber in for one room when the kitchen also needs doing and we want a combi boiler doing and moving from the kitchen to the loft. So it will be a while till we save up for that in one go.

I've worked out i want to pay off about £600 this month as it would take me to £54k exactly which sounds good, but we'll see. I'm not doing anything too early until we see if the car breaks down and whatever else gets thrown at us.

Thought i would ask how you are doing with your challenge?

May has been ok for us. Nearly £500 overpaid taking us to £54k. It feels good to see the numbers going up. I can't see June being as good honestly. I've been overpaid for the past 2 months at work as no-one told finance i had dropped another day a week. So that means they will claim back about £700 from me in next months pay leaving me with not a lot.

But, no use worrying about that now. I can see next months challenge will be to live as cheaply as i can with that amount. As it will be about what one months maternity pay was, it isn't all bad. We also owe DH's boss £500, but i think we will have to worry about that one in July.

aye up missus, how are you? Hope all is well at your end.

This month as not been as good as previous month but not too bothered, will see how it goes. I haven't had chance to get on the PC for a couple of weeks i have been run off my feet. The kids are off school now so i may not get long lol.

On another note i was well and truy spoilt on Sunday as it was my 30th, OH took me to Meadowhall and just spoilt me! Then i got back and i had a surprise party all arranged by my Mum and the weather was glorious just to make it a perfect day indeed.

Thats a bit of a sting re the wages but no worries missus any overpayments you have made so far are better than none and at least we have made a start on it! I have a few expensive months ahead and with OH now looking for a new contract i am tightening the reins for a few weeks until we know where we are! On a good note he will be home tomorrow evening so he will get a few days with the kids being off school which is definately needed. I am going to request a months leave from work although it is unpaid i could really do with it so i will be on with that this evening, my employer's are very good and understanding so heres hoping i get it.

Oh and the no smoking i slipped up but back on it again, i really want to crack it, i don't want to be a full time smoker again. I was sick of it ruling my life and i don't want to go back to that again iyswim x Thank for askign in all honesty it does make me feel alittle guilty but its a guilt trip i need x

Right the kids a wanting the tent up outside, this should be fun wish me luck x

Don't feel guilt honey. Life is for living and enjoying. Don't waste your precious time on guilt. All things happen in their own sweet time.

    Good Morning everyone!

Its been while since i last posted. No extra over payments made in June as we had a Holiday to Primrose Valley which the kids loved as it was a surprise. Booked it 2 weeks before:D.
Its been quite an expensive couple of months.

Last month with the holiday and this month so far we have shelled out a fortune in school trips and a prom dress and shoes for DD.
On the 11th we both have a night out for a hen and stag night so i can write off another £150ish...
    20th July Mums wedding Anniversary
21st July Best friends wedding anniversary
1st of August we have a wedding to attend.

    July
I have overpayed my usual overpayment which i set up on top of the usual mortgage payment and also Overpayed another £201.75 making the total 53k.

Since April We have paid just over £2500 off our mortgage. I am hoping to have it below 50k by the end of the year so our new goal is to pay off a further 3k. I now plan to overpay by £250 per month plus usual mortgage payment of £400 if Oh gets a good contract then we will pay more .

    Take care xx
