which i have taken very seriously which is why we have the crazy clothes challenge that sarah really hates me for

Ahem. I actually think it was a brilliant idea, as i have technically only spent £10 (plus coat and work skirt) and would have spent loads more by now. :o It's nearly 3 months:D Have to admit that a lot of it is finding so many fabby things shoved in the back of the wardrobe which will fit with a little effort so I am avoiding buying new clothes in my size as I want to fit the ones I have. But have also been sending things back and also repairing things. So, despite my initial reservations, I think it was a fabby idea:D ;)

HI Lula - just popping along to wish you luck... I would love to be sub £6K debt.... I am about to lose my job and if I don't get a new one it could take us to about 2016 to repay what we owe! Hopefully you and I will both be in well paying jobs well before then! Just keep pressing on like you have been and I am sure eventually it will all work out...

Sarah - you are most welcome as receptionist. Rather than a uniform, I think we should run to a communal wardrobe, covering all sizes from hopeful to hopeless, ;) thus ensuring that we can never overspend on the clothing challenge.

I knew I was getting old and responsible when I sent back a pair of shoes I couldn't actually stand up in (think Paltrow, high heeled zip backed gladiators in a slightly shiny black fabric). My knees quivered when I finally managed to get upright, and then slowly sank straight back down again without my knees locking.

I think we'll have to purchase lots of those wheely desk chairs so we can get around the place... Race you!

Night all, and thanks for making me laugh. :A

    Thanks for joining in savingholmes

& sorry to hear that you are about to lose your job that's rubbish for you :(
I am quite pleased that the debt is now under £6,000 but it is still quite high in relation to my income :o thanks for your support & encouragement, it's much appreciated :A & I wish you lots of luck in finding something soon.

Hollyberry - I love the idea of a communal wardrobe :D

thanks sarah, I'm glad you're enjoying the clothes challenge - it would'nt be so much fun without you :A , what truly scares me is that if I dont lose some weight/inches soon I could end up not spending any of my allowance at all

I really am going now ...

    night night

Hi, hope you've finaly made it to bed. Just wanted to say good luck with the job hunting and to mention that library comes under the local council jobs who have flexible working policies, one of which is term time only. Have a look at their website and you should be able to get the person spec for the library job, which is basically the requirements. As far as I know everything that says 'application form' in the how tested column needs to go on the application form with an example.
Say thay needed someone who could work on own initiative and the next column says that it's tested from the app form. You can put, I have experience of working on my initiative such examples of this are working on (what your job is at the mo) and expand, I don't mind giving you a hand as I filled in LOADS of the council forms, before realising that offices weren't for me. Good luck either way x

    Hi Hula
Sorry I hadn't remembered! Well done on the hardly any clothes challenge. One of the great things about last winter here in New Zealand was discovering all my really thick jumpers, that were too thick for my lifestyle in the UK, and using them again. I actually had to buy some trousers for over here this year. About the first time in 3 years that I had bought clothes other than underwear for myself. But it was SO hot, that you needed lighter weight stuff.

Other than that, we are still enjoying the lifestyle here. And my older DS is settling better now. He has had quite a hard time adjusting. And I think if we gave him the choice he would want to go home rather than stay. Bless he is only 7.

Just gearing up for the next winter here now. We are renting somewhere with single glazing and now built in heating  , so we are quietly sorting out the windows, so that they don't let in draughts now. Our landlady is really keen on keeping windows open to stop mould. But if the house is WARM AND DRY inside then you don't get mould. About 1 in 4 houses here have serious damp issues. It is an ongoing major scandal here.

Other than that the sun is shining, I have oranges and lemons growing in my back garden. So life could be worse.....

Saving Holmes Hi there *waves*. Must go and catch up with your diary. But really sorry that you are going to lose your job. Fingers crossed that all our DFW mates that are facing this get jobs soon.

Theres a huge flaw in the B&B plan guys. One that not even Shoegal can solve. I have gargantuin feet. Truly enormous things like boats. In fact most men have smaller feet. Which Is why I buy my girly shoes from a specialist transvestite shop. Yes yes you can all stop laughing now. The place stocks two types of shoes. Black "ooh matron" and those designed by a colourblind 1960s hippie. Last time I ventured through their doorway the luvvies decided that although I was going to a wedding and looking for something smart and practical - in my world thats sub 4" heels without platforms - they came up with a fabulous thigh high pair of 6" heeled platform boots covered in turquoise sequins. Shoegal would love it there. Well apart from their clientelle who all seem to wear miniskirts which when seated cannot disguise the fact that they have wayward trouser vegetables.

Second problem is that in anything higher than a 4" heel I feel the need to duck to go through doorways, especially on a fluffy poodle big hair day.

I bagsy the job of B&B librarian, even if I have to install a woodburner in the library myself.

    Hi chev :D

no worries about not rmembering, you visit so many threads I really wouldnt expect you to remember those particular words of wisdom :D .

Aaaaag to damp problems, well done for pointing out the obvious to landlady  Oranges & lemon in the back garden ... *sighs* I can feel Hollyberry gearing up to make a tarte au citron as I type :rotfl:

Moo - I do remember you saying before about where you buy your shoes - no shame & bet you meet some interesting peeps there ;) Could we not perhaps job share on the food growing & librarian duties  ... having lived on a boat many years ago I am a dab hand at both scavenging & chopping wood for stoves :D

Lexxi - thank very much for that tip :T - I've just been onto local council website & registered so that any other library type jobs will be emailed to me, there is another as a manager but not sure I'm ready for that yet ;) If I need any help then I will taking up your kind offer :A

So many lovely people here, wish I could hug you all :grouphug:

going to deliver more prawns ( leaflets chev ;) )

Sneaking in to say hi whilst at college ;)

Haven't read the thread fully but Lula I will echo with the people that say you need to do something that you are happy doing or at least feel comfortable doing, so I think you are doing the right thing throwing the prawns back out to sea :)

Moo - I have bought shoes from Ebay that have been advertised for men, especially when I was looking for some nice platforms back in the day before I started dating a man who is only 2" taller then me  my feet are too wide for the dinky narrow pointy shoes that are out there :o
